A Georgia police officer shot and killed a tiny Jack Russell Terrier that he claims threatened him during a routine probationary checkup on Monday.
The officer, Antoine Jones, is over six feet tall and weighs nearly 300 pounds. Patches, the dog he killed, weighs just 12 pounds, according to a local news channel.
Jones visited the Albany residence of Cherrie Shelton earlier this week to check on her son, who is serving probation. Upon Joness arrival, two-year-old Patches approached the officer and began barking. Shelton claims she told Jones that Patches was no threat, but the officer drew his weapon and shot the dog anyway.
After being shot, Patches fled and hid, eventually succumbing to her wounds.
According to Joness statement, Patches advanced toward him in a threatening manner even after receiving multiple verbal commands to get back.
But Shelton said this was not Joness first visit to the home, and the officer should have known that Patches was harmless.
Shelton buried Patches, and has plans to buy a cross to mark her grave. The dog is missed, she said.

It is a small step, My Friend, to transition from the shooting of animals at the least imagined provocation when the time they will be ordered to do so comes.Isn't it the general rule to look out for kids that torture or abuse animals?
Is it a fact that many serial murderers do the same?

I neither like nor dislike cops. This is about holding them accountable when they do wrong. Shooting a 12 pound dog on his own property is wrong. This isnt the first time, or, Im certain, the last time, this is going to occur.
Correct.
We need to rein them in. They have become more than arrogsnt and have forgotten who it is they serve. For some weird reason, you dont seem to understand that.
They have not forgotten who it is they serve. They simply serve a different suite of masters. And you are not among them.
Sorry.

Nothing remarkable in it. Unfortunately, remarkable adversaries of human freedom are rare.
Perhaps, however, that's actually a net positive. Run of the mill statists are quite easily remediated.

no one is stupid enough to FReepmail you. Mr. Robinson already has. How does toe jam taste?
I am done with you and your name calling ilk. Good bye!
To: Alaska Wolf; Jim Robinson
The Boss can FReepmail you because you don't dare go after him.
Forum etiquette, when speaking about someone you ping them.
And your post was incredibly childish.
You have a nice evening.

Don`t you hate it when people come into a room, fart, and then leave?

Well it is a little better than shooting my dog but they both stink.

Well, this was originally a typo. On the other hand, if remarkable adversaries weren't so rare, we'd get rid of them sooner. So I suppose one could read it either way.
Remember the rule of remaining with the living: do not be remarkable.
To: Anton.Rutter
Yes. Especially when they intend to continue doing so.

murderous thugs in stupid costumes playing Serious Tactical Operator (TM) while making embarrassing, disgusting and violently totalitarian decisions under color of authority. All 1+ million? Do you want to include the military, prison and detention employees, corrections officers, crossing guards, security personnel, etc.?
But karma's an unforgiving bitch
So are arrogance, self-righteousness and criminal behavior.
I'm not in law enforcement for the very simple reason that I don't suffer fools, druggies or criminal animals. I'm surprised anyone would want the job.
To: DJ MacWoW
Wow! That could have turned out so differently! God bless you for staying calm! I would have freaked.
I was there on business, so a positive outcome was desirable. Futhermore, the entire incident resulted from a gap in the hotel's process (and not in their policy). Plus the cops were reasonable about it and not defensive or arrogant. It was pretty clear a tragedy had been averted and I still don't know why I didn't simply say "I am done speaking with you and will discuss your disturbing of my family's rest with your manager in the morning" and shut the door on her.
I'll put it down to good manners up front.

If the officer was polite I can understand responding in kind. It turned out well because you both kept your cool. Thank goodness she wasn’t on a power trip.

Disingenuous. Good try though, I'll give you a quarter-point for creatively blending crossing guards with the Marines, even though I've yet to see my neighbor mom strap a load-bearing harness over her blaze orange vest at the entrance to my neighborhood.
Funnily enough, the local police force does occasionally loan her an official Community Resource Vehicle so perhaps I'm just inattentive to the granular details of her incipient statism.
I've certainly never seen her blow gunfire through the brain pan of a Jack Russell either, although she may fantasize about it. No way to tell.
So are arrogance, self-righteousness and criminal behavior.
The very definition of what drives the murderous jackbooting that is under discussion, is it not? How apt.

"Criminal animals" is wonderful! I think you've coined a darling, scintillating and opposition-proof term. Simply label it a criminal animal and the State can accelerate along the response gradient from determination to termination. Really quite lovely.

That's the point. I made mine, and she made hers, and we got each other, and we were both pleased that disaster was averted. No one started out with a chip on their shoulder.

Move on!
And in deference to your house, I will as well.

Society in general has degraded. So many think “It’s all about ME!”. It’s sad.
