A half a million dollars to change a school name just to be politically correct. Idiots.

Some years ago, New Orleans changed the name of George Washington school. They didn’t want a school named after someone who owned slaves. It hurt the self esteem of the almost all black student body and black teachers. They named the school after an African king. That was supposed to help the self esteem of the black students, so they weren’t forced to attend a school named after a slave owner.

Political correctness is a strong force in our society.

I guess Robert E Lee High is next.

Of course, the name of Jacksonville itself should be changed too since it is named after famous indian fighter, Andrew Jackson, who is blamed for the Trail of Tears.

They named the school after an African king.

Entirely possible the African king owned slaves which would be too funny.

I’d bet you that the African King owned black slaves too. Probably more than Washington and he probably killed them when they no longer produced for him.

Just think of all the places where a school’s name is seen inside the school. Changing all that can get expensive.

Change it to Forrest Gump - the perfect utopia. come now Nathan Bedford Forrest later renounced his klan views and his racial bias. Here we go again time to cover up the dark times of America’s past. Lets keep the reminders of our past so as o help understand the trials and tragedies that got America to become a nation. So if we cover up the past the past never existed is so stupid. Yet what the high school will be called barack obama? now I call that offensive!

$570,000?

I don’t think it should cost that much. Government institutions are just that wasteful.

And if I were a student there, or a parent of a student, I would continue to refer to it as Nathan Bedford Forrest High. Just like I will always refer to the Washington football team as the Redskins, people of negro persuasion as blacks, and men who have sex with other men as queers, homos, or fags.

Shove your PC brainwashing ...

How do they calculate $500,000 to change it?

What do they need to do?

Update phone directories, official school forms, stick a new sign out in front of the school? What else? How do all of these things combined add up to half a million??? Seems excessive.

The Duval County School Board operates on a pretty tight budget. Go ask a large law firm what a name change costs.

Could easily take more than that, if you are spending someone else’s money...

There are already some schools named after Obama.

The one I heard most about is in Price George’s County, Maryland. It serves a largely black student body. That could be why it was so named, to help the self esteem of black students. We apparently want them to identify with our black president, because we want them to focus only on the color of their skin.

I guess they need to spend most of that on consultants and studies.
