"A pair of burglars in Southern California got more than they bargained for when they broke into the home of a champion tomahawk thrower this weekend.
The woman armed herself with one of her special throwing axes and chased off the intruders.
She said she could have killed them had she loosed her deadly weapons, but she could not bring herself to injure the fleeing burglars.

When they saw that their victim was awake, the brazen burglars fled. She gave chase, throwing tomahawk in hand.
'I could have thrown it,' Ms Irvine said. 'I could have put it right in his spine. It would have paralyzed him.'
But she chose restraint because the burglar was already fleeing, she said.
A police officer who responded to Ms Irvine's 911 call arrested Nicholas Joseph Ulloa, 22, minutes later.
He found the man hiding behind a bush near Ms Irvine's trailer.
He had a bag full of items, including possessions with Ms Irvine's name on them.
The second burglar remains at large.

Missed opportunities rarely present themselves again. This could have had a happier ending.
This thread is useless without a photo of Ed Ames on the Johnny Carson Show.
We need a ban on Tomahawks, they are are deadly and they are also very racist!!!!!!
/sarcastic response
If she had seriously injured or killed a burglar who was still in her house, she probably would not have been charged as generally, if your house is broken into and you reasonably feel threatened, you may attack with a deadly weapon.
A burglar story that made me almost feel sorry for the burglar, was in Beckwith’s book Delta Force, as they were getting ready to go on the mission in Iran, one of the Delta Force shooters found a burglar in his home, the burglar didn’t get a shot off.
While not a sword... still an edged weapon, so I suppose it’s worth a quick... Sword Ping!!!
A tomahawk makes for a nice weak-hand weapon to accompany an arming sword, and can be pretty darn effective all by itself. :-)
Generally you have to be in reasonable fear for your life to be able to legally use deadly force.
That may be met in your house, but also may not (consider a daytime break in burgular is a female, child, physically small, impaired, handicapped).
Talmud suggests that you can use deadly force at night based on the breakin alone (as you can’t see to know what the person is doing) but can’t during the day (absent further provocation).
I guess you could say she axed them to leave...
Right, it needs to be during the night if its just breaking into your house alone that causes you to use deadly force.
LOL
It couldn’t have been scripted any better if they tried.
Looking for just such a comment... if I didn’t find one, I would have made one.
