A Season For Everything

November 6, 2013

In the 1960s, the folk-rock band The Byrds popularized the song “Turn! Turn! Turn!” It climbed to the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and gained worldwide popularity. People seemed captivated by the lyrics. Interestingly, though, except for the last line, those lyrics are from the Old Testament book of Ecclesiastes.

“To everything there is a season,” proclaims the writer of Ecclesiastes, “a time for every purpose under heaven” (3:1). He then lists some of the seasons in human experience: birth and death, gain and loss, tears and laughter, mourning and dancing. Just as the seasons in nature change, so do the seasons in our lives. Our circumstances never stay the same for long.

Sometimes we welcome change in our lives. But often it is difficult, especially when it involves sorrow and loss. Yet even then we can be thankful that God does not change. “I am the Lord,” He said through the prophet Malachi, “I do not change” (Mal. 3:6).

Because God remains the same, we can rely on Him through the shifting seasons of life. His presence is always with us (Ps. 46:1), His peace has the power to guard our hearts (Phil. 4:7), and His love provides security for our souls (Rom. 8:39).

A mighty fortress is our God,
A bulwark never failing;
Our helper He amid the flood
Of mortal ills prevailing. —Luther
God’s unchanging nature is our security during seasons of change.

Read: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

To everything there is a season. —Ecclesiastes 3:1

Happy Warm & Fuzzy Wednesday

Sometimes, the Maintenance man has to enter my apartment when I am at work. Since Lynn-dah knows him, it is not a problem. However, he told me that she sits by the door and waits when I am not home. So this picture is a good one for Warm & Fuzzy Wednesday! :-)

And yours too!

(((((HUGS)))))

Yesterday was not a good day for me. I had a gastrointestinal attack which forced me to cancel all my lessons.

After that, I did a takedown of my new semiautomatic and cleaned it thoroughly...and then it would not go back together again! I was afraid to “force” it, so I took it back to where I bought it and the guy said “You Gotta FORCE it.” I was probably is such a weakened condition from my “attack” that I couldn’t do it.

(I am assuming the gastrointestinal attack was due to some extremely spicy Korean Stew that I chowed down the night before.)

Of course, all through this debacle, Lynn-Dah was by my side.

Dr Horn I remember well..He delivered me at home..and as we had both moved to the Dallas area 23 years later..I took my toddler son to him when my husband had left the Navy and we first came to Dallas. Love those old fashioned family doctors.

And SOMEHOW, they managed to provide WONDERFUL Healthcare to America, long before HMO’s PPO’s, SSI, Medicare, Medicaid, Managed healthcare maintenance, and Obamacare!

How on EARTH were they able to do that?????????????
