I didn't realize this, but when the Senate voted a couple of weeks ago to raise the debt ceiling, the legislation included a provision that there would be a second vote expressing approval or disapproval of the first vote. That vote was held yesterday:
Twenty-seven Republican senators voted with Democrats on Oct. 16 to lift the debt ceiling and avert a catastrophic default. And each one of those 27 senators voted Tuesday to "disapprove" of their own votes. The vote Tuesday was a symbolic "resolution to disapprove" of the debt limit hike. It was mandated by the deal thanks to a last-minute provision inserted by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY). The motion failed 45-54 because all Democrats opposed it.
(XXX)? Does this make sense even on craven political grounds? Do these guys really think the tea partiers are going to forgive them as long as they cast a vote saying they're really, really sorry about caving in and saving the American economy from massive default and Armageddon?
I dunno. Maybe this will now be a stand

This is simply too sad to believe it is true, but it probably is.
Empty Symbolic gestures by the Do-Nothing GOP-E seems to be the order of the day.
The old Olympia Snowe trick. Vote for some stupid Communist scheme, and then hold another vote so you can go on record disapproving it.
The last time Snowe pulled this trick it enabled Dingy Harry to push Obamacare through.
Wow Surrender Caucus on tour I hope there is a band.
The GOP thinks that their shiny new, tax-friendly “brand” is going to get Americans to vote for them. ROTFL! Branding is when someone sets the hair on your @$$ on fire.
All I know is that our rep is having a townhall on Nov 4th and I would not dream of missing it. The last one was contentious. This one should be ugly. He always votes the right way but our district wants a conservative warrior.
There’s childishness. There’s cowardice.
Then there’s childish cowardice.
why is this a surprise???? btw- how many Rats do this all the time?? vote for war in Iraq then claim the war was a mistake??? vote for sequester cuts then claim they were a mistake??
and the sequester....no vote but vote for it then rail against their vote...
The GOP is pathetic.
