The notion that Hitler escaped from his Berlin bunker has held conspiracy theorists in thrall since the war ended. It has now reared its improbable head once more.
This weekend, it emerged that the story of Hitlers supposed escape to Argentina has become the subject of a bitter plagiarism row.
In their book, Grey Wolf: The Escape Of Adolf Hitler, British authors Gerrard Williams and Simon Dunstan argued that the Führer escaped and did indeed see out his days in South America.
However, an Argentine journalist, Abel Basti, who comes from the Patagonian town of Bariloche, where so many Nazis retired, claims that Williams and Dunstan appropriated his research, and he is seeking compensation.

Newspapers in Mexico continue to report Hitler “sightings” every few yeas...
“It’s that nice Mr. MacGoering. He’s found a place where you can hire bombers by the hour.”
It doesn’t matter if Hitler died - his legacy and what the SS created during and after the Nazis were in power has wrought so much more destruction...the SS Werewolf units that set up camp in Northern Africa and trained insurgent Arab forces that later became the terrorists of the 60’s and 70’s - and still that foundation still permeates throughout the Middle East...the legacy and the mindset is still here - still being taught...and the creation of the Eurozone is nothing more than a Nazi banking idea, which most of Europe has fallen victim too...all accept Britain so far...
Someone check the dark side of the moon too.
Michael Jackson and Elvis used sit out on the veranda in the evenings. Sometimes, OBL would drop in, too.
If Hitler was alive he would be living in Germany today as a retired former SS officer. I don’t think he would have made it out of the bunker and if he did—he would have died of natural causes. But, in a way he is immortal—he has become a supernatural force for evil in the world—a symbol of all that is powerful going bad and evil, corruption, and sin devolving into murder and mass murder. Sadly his theories still live and haunt us to this very day.
If you study the below photograph carefully, you will see a thin old man with a short mustache sitting approx. 8 rows up - just over goalie Roger Vachon's head (and slightly to the left). This isn't the best picture but once your eyes get accustomed, you will be able to clearly point him out.
I have no idea how Adolf Hitler was able to attend this game without attracting notice but I guess when the whole world thinks you are dead, it's easier than you think to get around unnoticed.
Hitler would have been 82 years old at the time but by all accounts, he developed a fascination with professional ice hockey. Most likely because many of the players were of Scandinavian/Nordic descent and fit his description of what a "master race" would look like if you outfitted them with ice skates and curved sticks and gave them a puck to play with.
Hitler was especially enamored of Bobby Orr, who can be seen in this photo bearing down on the goal while teammate Johnny Bucyk looks on behind him - hoping for a rebound (and a cheap goal).
If you could zoom in on Hitler's face in this photo at this key moment of the game, you would see him pumping his fist with his mouth agape as his blonde-haired blue-eyed hero zeroed in on yet another goal for the home team.
I don't think Hitler lived long enough to see Orr and the Bruins win another Stanley Cup later that year so this might have been the last public sighting of the most evil man of the 20th Century (excepting perhaps Josef Stalin or Scott Baio).
I think it is interesting that Hitler’s nephew and his family ended up living in New Jersey..presumably under assumed names. Imagine looking at a high school year book and seeing a picture of Joe Hitler as band drum major.
But when the end came for Hitler and the Third Reich, so many Germans were falling all over themselves to tell anyone who would listen just how much they had all opposed Hitler leaving one British journalist to wonder rhetorically aloud that if so many Germans had opposed Hitler how in the world did he ever come to power? For myself I haven’t heard this from any Obama voters.
Even up to 1963, the idea that Hitler was still alive was very real. I remember an article in the 1963 Readers Digest supporting he was living in South America.
Obama hoped that the 2008 financial meltdown would equal the Germans' humiliation with the Versailles Treaty and the dreadful Weimar hyperinflation. Never let a crisis go to waste!
Perhaps, it wasn't enough.
Perhaps.
In one of Long John Nebel’s books there’s a vignette about a nursing home patient in Argentina named Adolf Hitler, there was supposedly a photo of the guy in intel files in DC.
Not long after the War there was a phony account of Hitler’s attempted escape by U-boat, which ended badly when the U-boat was sunk in the Baltic or North Sea or some such — iow, even if true, it meant Hitler was dead, just in a different place.
The USSR was satisfied with the results of multiple examinations of the remains of Adolf and Eva, even while hiding the facts (for decades, in some cases) from the outside world. Soviet agitprop was disseminated and used to accuse the western allies of harboring a fugitive Hitler; by that time Stalin had added the largest collection of Hitler’s works anywhere in the world, to accompany the other pirate booty looted in former Nazi territory.
In the 1970s a fake multivolume diary of Hitler, complete with fake confirmations of various other Soviet claims and accusations, emerged from a purported private collection in E Germany and was “smuggled out” for publication in W Germany — another Soviet agitprop campaign.
“Hitler escaped” sells books (mostly to gullible people with cryptofascist interests) but it’s absolute rubbish. He committed suicide like many other craven cowardly criminals and mass-murderers have done to avoid being confronted, humiliated, and discredited.
Thanks Olog-hai.

Martin Bormann died as he tried to flee Berlin, but there are those who claim he escaped and lived for years afterward under an assumed name, enriched by Nazi-era plunder he’d managed to squirrel away. At least one book claimed that Bormann was the suspected Soviet mole in the German high command, but that story is also a load.

Yes he was connected - but the real shocker is he was also Evlis Presley's father...
The Hitler I mean History Channel did a look at der Fuhrer’s descendants in U.S. Said they swore a blood oath never to reproduce & propagate the Hitler gene. Like it could be reborn Svengali-like & lead America into the Fourth Reich.
Willy Hitler died in NJ at 76, a pompous dork who “inherited” der Fuhrer’s mannerisms but couldn’t have led a f@rt out of a phone booth.
Mein Kampf in Arabic still a bestseller in the Middle East to this day. Now that’s a threat.
Hitler was as queer as a three dollar bill.
I doubt if he and Eva ever consummated their very short marriage.
Of course you haven’t heard it, because Mr. Obama is still in office. Likewise, three years before Hitler’s down fall it was 1942, when Germany and Japan were at the height of their power. Most of those Germans would have been loyal in 1942. Let’s see how many supporters Obama has when he isn’t president anymore.
