Retired football player Jeff Garcia, four-time Pro Bowl quarterback, told USA Today Sports Wednesday he would like to have the chance to be playing for the Minnesota Vikings or either Minnesota Vikings. During an interview with USA Today Sports, Jeff Garcia commented the opportunity will give also him a chance to be a mentor for younger quarterbacks taking advantage of his experience.
"I look at guys like David Garrard with the Jets and Matt Hasselbeck in Indianapolis and those teams aren't expecting David or Matt to step on the field, but they're great mentors to young quarterbacks in the classroom," Garcia added. "So in a situation where you have a young, talented player like a Josh Freeman who has had success, I'd be open to a role similar to David and Matt's." Like Us on Facebook
Actually, the 43-year-old former quarterback reached out to the Cleveland Browns and proposed them to "work him out and take' a look". "I don't know if people want me back in Cleveland, but I'm open to the opportunity," Jeff Garcia said, who appears one NFL Network's NFLAM every Monday and Friday.
According to recent reports, it doesn't look like the Brown, nor the Vikings, answered Garcia's proposal. As a matter of fact, Garcia hasn't held a ball for the last 3 years.
Today is Y.A. Tittle's birthday. I'll bet he'd don the pads once again. He's only 93.
He looked 93 when he played.
My bad. He’s only 87.
He probably could, but the hits would kill him.........
Garcia was a poor QB who had 2 good years. The Browns aren’t that desperate yet.
They are only gone because nobody does it since the league wants high scores. They equate that to excitement which sales tickets and tv time. They think that nobody wants to watch a 17-14 game with good defense. I actually prefer them.
Don’t agree with this article in full but some general points are valid as others have alluded to, teams are hard-up for top quarterbacks. There are very few.
Wow, had no idea that Y.A. Tittle was still alive.
There is an iconic photo of him at old Pitt Stadium in a game against the Steelers, kneeling down in the end zone with blood gushing from his forehead.
Garcia is sharp; he just got caught behind a couple of incompetent front offices at the wrong time in his career.
If anyone needs an extra comma I found a couple just lying around.

Sharp, yes. Crisp, no.
He was excellent as QB of my Calgary Stampeders once Danny Barrett helped cure him of happy feet. Probably didn’t hurt that he backed up Doug Flutie when he first came to Calgary, too.
Cheers,
Jim
I remember when Bradshaw retired and they tried to get him to come back - he said he noticed that nobody was chasing him or knocking him down in the broadcast booth.
Vince Young is available. Nobody loves washed up QBs more than Minnesota.
He should be calling the Rams. Or the Buccaneers.
Headbanger Ball: Is “Rams” an acceptable team name?
