So the zombies are at your door. Death is upon you, but the gun shop is just a block away. You make a run for it, and you make it to the most extensive armory for miles. Time to make a decision: Which guns do you grab? Contrary to popular belief, not every gun will do the job the same, so to help make up your mind on which guns will save your life, here are my eight best guns for the zombie apocalypse.

.380? Best bet for reliability, Bersa thunder..cheap too, and accurate. It doesn’t have good stopping power, either does .22 but better than nothing. Would recommend flat nose solid loads for penetration for .380, doesn’t accelerate enough for hollowpoints. A few Buffalo Bore +p in mag will help.

The new small frames.....I wouldn’t trust any small frame auto unless SIG/Sauer P290 and it’s pricey. Maybe the small Kahr that’s been around. Then there’s the possible issues of recoil and handling. My advice for reliability, tiny carry piece stick with snub nose revolver, not in aluminum or scandium too lightweight, but all depends on shooter, and the size of the grips one favors. Small carry gun, reliability/handling is better. I’ve had a Kel Tec PF9, carrys great as a back up, secondary piece, however unreliable with jamming, snappy recoil so picked up another snubby.

LTJG Howell Forgy, Chaplain Corps:

Well, I was stationed aboard the USS New Orleans, and we were tied up at 1010 dock in Pearl Harbor when we were attacked again. We were having a turbine lifted, and all of our electrical power wasn’t on, and so when we went to lift the ammunition by the hoist, we had to form lines of men — form a bucket brigade — and we began to carry the ammunition up through the quarterdeck into the gurneys, and I stood there and directed some of the boys down the port side and some down the starboard side, and as they were getting a little tired, I just happened to say, “Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.” That’s all there was to it.

My thoughts: The Lord helps those who help themselves (not actually in the Bible, but consistent with scripture). If He doesn’t call me home in the rapture or via the normal means, He wants me to stay here and live to do His work. Who am I to (1) argue, or (2) fall short of what I could accomplish for Him.

I will be armed as needed. That is not the center of my life, but to be an easy target would be to fail in using the gifts He gave me. To fail to arm myself would be to put my family and my neighbors at risk, giving predatory criminals an advantage over decent people. I don’t believe that is what God wants from me.

I will also center my life around God and around His will.

Like 22:35-38 And He said to them, “When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?” So they said, “Nothing.” Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. For I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’For the things concerning Me have an end.” So they said, “Lord, look, here are two swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.”

As I read that passage, (1) we are supposed to arm ourselves when necessary, and (2) we are supposed to arm ourselves in moderation (two swords are enough, in other words, we shouldn’t have a huge arsenal that requires most of our time and resources to maintain and to stay proficient).

Horsehockey. I took a deer with a .380 firing JHP ammo.

Well good to hear. They can go down with .22 as well. I’m going by what I’ve read, reports from Brazil where citizens are allowed to carry .380 loading and the poor results.

My choices:

1. A high-powered rifle with some range - 30-06, 30-30, .308 win, or similar. Quality scope recommended. This gives range and knock-down power.

2. A second serious rifle, such as the AR-15 in .223 or 5.56, with combat capability but lighter/cheaper(???) ammo. Red dot or otherwise holographic sight a good idea. [Optional]

3. An inexpensive to shoot rifle, especially a .22LR. Iron sights may be the best answer for quick target acquisition if you are a decent shot. The Henry Survival rifle is a nice option in this category, as if the Ruger 10/22, but there are hundreds of other good choices, whether both action or semi-automatic. I would suggest some but not all ammo in subsonic to avoid disturbing the peace.

4. A pistol that is light enough to carry continuously but in a reasonably high and common caliber - .38, .357, 9mm, .45 Colt, or .45 ACP.

5. A shotgun, in 12 gauge for most people, for home defense. Either a pump like the Rem. 870, or a good, reliable semi-automatic is great. Extended magazine preferred.

6. A pistol that is sturdy enough to pack a punch and shoot well, in a reasonably high and common caliber - .38, .357, 9mm, .45 Colt, or .45 ACP. [Optional]

As far as I am concerned, two of the above are optional, anything extra is mostly for recreation or for other family members and neighbors. I’ve read several comments that the pistols are only so you can fight your way back to the long guns you should have been carrying to begin with, but I don’t quite agree. There are times when carrying a long gun would draw too much attention, and the pistols are for those times.

No but you can make most of the parts out of a couple of shovels and a few springs.

Ar 15 with an Adams Arms piston kit tuned in and a CMMG .22lr conversion kit with four mags and 1000 rounds of Super subsonic in 60 grain for the .22 and 1000 rounds of 55 grain Soft point for the AR15, with at least six mags always loaded. Pistol should be a Sig P6 or P226 and a Ruger SR.22 is nice also, for light weight pocket carry around the house.

In the first round of Bammy-ammo-fly-off-the-shelf, 22LR and 12 ga were still available.

Fortunately I picked up a couple of boxes before buying the canoe.

LOL, that's one of my favorite YouTube Clips.

Don't Suburbans come in a Diesel version?

It's easy to store all sorts of Diesel in old fuel oil tanks.

"Marlin model 60 .22lr. "

Those are good if you have a couple and a wench to reload them.

17/18 rounds in some models and no mag to get you in trouble with Boxer et.al.

Check out “Cold Steel” Machetes [real cheap] they have one and after handling it will chop Z” both ways ... but then again the real one was for stabbing.
