Bradley the 4-pound wiener pooch fights off a 400-pound beast after it goes after two Michigan men in the woods. Sadly, he died from his wounds but he is being hailed as a hero by his owner.

A tiny dachshund has been hailed a hero after he sacrificed his own life to save two Michigan men from a brutal black bear attack.

Bradley the 4-pound wiener dog stood up to the 400-pound beast after it struck in Oscoda County woods on Saturday.

Refusing to let the giant tear up the duo, the puny pup jumped off their golf cart and started scuffling. His preemptive attack scared off the animal, but he was bitten in the fight and sadly died from his wounds an hour later.

Bradley's owner John Force told UpNorthLive that the fearless pooch had gone for a ride on the cart with pals who were visiting for the weekend.

Were it not for his selfless actions, he added, they might not be around to tell the tale today.

"I believe honestly the outcome would've been different if Brad had not been with him," Force said.

OK, my hat’s off to that little pup, but if you get attacked by some kinda BEAR in your golf cart, well pardner it may be time to just take a mulligan and find some new links to play on.

That dog is not 4 pounds. I'd say 14 pounds, at least.

Especially for those Senior citizens like myself who grew up in the Southern woods, may I recommend the short novel "The Bear" by William Faulkner. Included in the story is a mini-dog which Faulkner calls a "fyce" (I knew those as "feist") which wants to tackle a giant black bear. The boss dog, though, is a huge feral mix-breed called "Lion". The action takes place in the late 1800s.

Best hunting story ever written IMHO.
