Popular Bathroom Wipes Blamed For Sewer Clogs Nationwide

The National Association of Clean Water Agencies, which represents 300 wastewater agencies, says it has been hearing complaints about wipes from sewer systems big and small for about the past four years.
That roughly coincides with the ramped-up marketing of the flushable cleansing cloths as a cleaner, fresher option than dry toilet paper alone. A trade group says wipes are a $6 billion-a-year industry, with sales of consumer wipes increasing nearly 5 percent a year since 2007 and expected to grow at a rate of 6 percent annually for the next five years.
...
Manufacturers insist wipes labeled flushable arent the problem, pointing instead to baby and other cleaning wipes marked as nonflushable that are often being used by adults.
My team regularly goes sewer diving to analyze whats causing problems, said Trina McCormick, a senior manager at Kimberly-Clark Corp., maker of Cottonelle. Weve seen the majority, 90 percent in fact, are items that are not supposed to be flushed, like paper towels, feminine products or baby wipes.

Howard Stern has been using these for that for years now. You can blame him for any Long Island sewer clogs. Only girly men and retards use this crap. Unreal!

Been using them for 10 plus years and have never had a problem. It is all a matter of how much you use and how much bulk is there. (flush once for the bulk, twice for the remainder /Peter Griffin).
It’s really pretty simple... if it’s going to easily plug the toilet, you’re trying to flush too much at once.

I tried them once. Made me feel like I wasn’t quite ...done . Ended up having ti finish up with dry toilet paper.

A plumber arguing against wet wipes and grease is like a chicken supporting Col. Saunders.

They are a godsend for those of us with difficult to clean nether regions. I'm gonna have to do some google research to figure this out.

...so much for cleansing wipes! I had a plumber in to replace the dripping faucet shutoff valve and when he finished he dumped the wastebasket, full of paper towels we had used to wipe up the water, into the toilet. It also happened to have the old rusted wall flange under the towels in the wastebasket. He had to come back the next day to unstop the toilet.
Post hoc ergo propter hoc can really stink up a situation.

I got some 1950s-era commodes with the new investment property. I am redoing my bathrooms and I am keeping my non-lo-flow commodes that were installed before they passed the law that outlawed the sale of non-lo-flows.
When I am riding through my neighborhood and I see old commodes sitting at the curb, I feel like I need to remind the owner how much better that old commode is.

If they are strong enough to be wet and not tear, then they are NOT made for flushing, no matter what they say.Put everyone on their own septic system and they'll learn this real fast.

Bump!
Government regulation causes as many if not more problems than the complaints “they say” they are addressing.
