This week, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz caused a stir by asking customers to leave their guns at home.
While Schultz stressed that customers who did legally bring guns into stores wouldn't be kicked out, the comments offended a lot of people.
We asked two Starbucks competitors, McDonald's and Dunkin' Donuts, if they had gun policies for their thousands of restaurants.
Both companies said they simply abide by the laws of that state or region.

LOL! It’s midnite basketball for the old folks.
Best free show in town!
Be prepared to score and play defense! :^)
“FWIW, I dont think it is against the law, at least not in many places for a guy to go shirtless or people to walk around barefoot but a business is able to have and enforce a no shirt, no shoes; no service policy.”
Here in Washington state, any business can put up a “No Guns” sign. But unless it is a bar, one can carry a gun if prepared to be asked to leave if someone spots it. If you don’t leave, then it becomes trespassing. Just like I imagine a “no shirt, no shoes” sign would be enforced.
This is within three miles. I have one about 3/4 of a mile from me. Unfortunately, I have a Starbucks across the street. You are right about DD in MA, I noticed that last year when I made a trip to check out the foliage.
Now as for Waffle House,I’ve written to those guys begging them to please come to our neck of the woods. There is one 43 miles away, in PA, I would love to take a road trip. The folks there do get back to you it you write to them and ask for a restaurant near you.
Now THAT is worth knowing.
Great, I’m just about ready to hit the hay and now I’m thinking about having Breakfast at Waffle House. Everything you said and some Sausages too. Do they have Biscuits and Gravy?
Problem is, there isn’t a Waffle House within 300 miles of here and if there was I would have to wake up the Wife and tell her where I was going.
Man, I’m hungry now.
Yes, I understand that business owners have property rights, and I understand that it is not illegal for someone to post signs banning guns. My point was, and remains, that the laws of Arizona do permit carrying guns, so “abiding by the laws” should do the same. I don’t consider “not technically violating” to be exactly the same as “abiding by”.
Funny story about a ‘late night dining establishment’ in NC from maybe 20 years back. A friend of mine, a pilot, told me about leaving a bar after it closed at 2 am with his friends - all three sheets to the wind. They ended up at this very crowded ‘late night dining establishment’. The cook was furiously churning out meals and during their table conversation, the men were watching him go. A roach happened to crawl across the greasy back of the cooktop and, without missing a beat, the cook smashed him with the back of one of his metal spatchulas, wiped it off on his thigh, and went back to cooking two-handed. The men started hollering and notified everyone there of what had just happened. The ‘late night eating establishment’ cleared out.
There is a Waffle House just 2 miles from my house. Most of them don’t have biscuits since you can’t make biscuits on a gridle. Where do you live that there isn’t a Waffle House? Do you live up North?
I used to think that. But the young are the only people who have the energy to enjoy youth.
Are you series
Wow I was the catalyst for this thread being chosen as the official Waffle House thread But I am a humble freeper and I know I could not have done it alone I’d like to thank all my fellow Waffle Housers for your posts and I would also like to encourage those of you who have never had the Waffle House Experience but now seem interested and posted questions or comments to go to a Waffle House soon and while I’m at it would someone please mail me some punctuation
World’s best Coffee Table book. I dare anybody to not pick up a big-ass Waffle House book and not thumb through it.
Let’s do it.
And we can give it away to at Freepathons if you donate, a certain amount of money.
Like for a 200 dollar donation, you can get this lovely coffee table book, and for an extra 100 it can be autographed by the authors!!!
Great idea.
Thank you, kind Sir.
