A parent in Towson, Md., was arrested Thursday night at a public forum after vocally expressing his concerns about the Baltimore County School District's plan to use Common Core standards in its curriculum.
Robert Small, a concerned father, was forcefully removed from the meeting by a police officer after he interrupted Baltimore County Schools Superintendent Dallas Dance during the question-and-answer portion of the forum.
The meeting apparently didn't allow parents to stand up and ask questions or comment. Parents and other attendants were instead asked to write their questions on a piece of paper and officials would read them.

Oh yeah, I love that one. Ditch the cards from the audience and use the pre-written questions with their pat answers. People, you’re being facilitated by the pros!

Why did everyone else just sit there?
The board sets the rules and the cops enforce.
Please, don’t get me wrong, I applaud the parent for trying to get an education for his children worth something, I just get upset when the blame falls on the police for enforcing the rules set by others. Not even sure that the security person was a real cop.
Why did everyone else just sit there?
This, along with the college student in California having his free speech silenced, is proof that the shackles are being hammered shut, much more quickly than most would believe.
Dear Lord, please share Your strength.

You are a mindless conformist and you don’t belong on FR.
Why did everyone else just sit there?
Don't like the Feds taking over local control of the school districts? COMMON CORE OR ELSE!!!

Tell that to the Founding Fathers.
I’ve written about this before here at FR. Personal observation. It’s NOT uncommon for this practice at Liberal townhall meetings, and council meetings we’ve (wife, and myself) attended. And now this...I believe it. We’ve seen it happen, and experienced the wrath of the Liberals if they don’t get their way. They believe once elected they are absolute rulers.
“Tell that to the Founding Fathers.”
Exactly. What a great retort to the never question authority crowd.
“They believe once elected they are absolute rulers.”
That was the story of the 20th century wasn’t it. Elections were fine until the communists won. Then there was never a need for an election again.
That’s Congress. This is a local government.
I bet the cops are real proud of themselves.
You bore me.Go away.
They are officers of THE LAW
They are to enforce by following the law ..both for the public, the board and the government
So if the law states the public has a right to speak and the board does not like the question and wants the police to remove the public.. it is the officer job to follow the law that the public has the right to be there and ask the questions
My grandson goes to a private school but this past year I decided to go to all the school board meetings because I’ve had it with the continuing increase in taxes with no results. Common Core is the straw that is breaking the camel’s back.
If you haven’t read about it and/or attended some school board meetings, you might find it all interesting to say the least.
I can readily identify with his frustration. Following their rules is what got us into this mess in the first place.
