Pennsylvania man protests school tax with $1 bills (Homeschooler)

FORKS TOWNSHIP, Easton Pa., - A Pennsylvania man who homeschools his children said he paid his $7,143 school tax in $1 bills to protest funding public education.

Rob Fernandes videotaped himself delivering the 7,143 $1 bills, along with 54 cents change, to the Forks Township municipal building and explaining his reasoning to tax collector Anne Bennett-Morse, Philly.com reported Friday.

"I'm not doing this to make anybody's life more difficult," Fernandes can be seen telling Bennett-Morse in the video.

Fernandes said he sees the money taken for school taxes as "stolen."

"We homeschool our kids, so we don't even use the public school system, yet I'm being forced to pay all this money into a public school system that I don't use, don't want, don't need. And I don't think that's really either fair, just or even ethical," he said.

"It would be the equivalent if McDonald's were to force vegetarians to pay for their cheeseburgers," he said.

"I'm a big proponent of education," he said, adding that "education can be provided more efficiently in a free market."

I wouldn’t complain as much if the public schools actually did a good job educating kids in things other than tolerance, the homosexual agenda, multiculturalism, revisionist American history, and weren’t liberal indoctrination centers.

Single payer socialized schooling has no place in a capitalist society.

This is the wrong argument because the government takes taxes for many services that people are not using.

Here is the fundamental argument that **all** conservatives should use when discussing government schooling:

Government schooling is a First Amendment and freedom of conscience abomination. Why?

Answer: Because it is **impossible** to have a religiously, culturally, and politically neutral education. Such a state of neutrality can not be found in the mind of any sentient human and absolutely is impossible in any school. When government runs schools and **FORCES** children to attend and taxpayers to pay for it, government is imposing a NON-neutral religious, political, and cultural worldview on captive children and forcing taxpayers to pay for it!

Government schooling teaches children to think and reason in a NON-neutral GODLESS manner! Why?

Answer: Because any child who sits in a religiously NON-neutral godless government classroom **will** learn to think and reason godlessly just to cooperate in the classroom, study the godless texts, and cooperate with the godless home assignments . How could it be otherwise?

The biggest political bully controlling the voting mob **will** dictate the NON-neutral religious, cultural, and political worldview taught to the next generation of voters.

Finally....Property taxes which fund the NON-neutral government schools turn every business owner and home owner into government RENTERS! No one in this nation owns property. We rent it from the government!

Where is the proof that Prussian model schools actually teach anything? Even the so-called “good” ones? Hm?

Answer: There are NONE!

Answer: No one has ever studied **where** children are acquiring their knowledge. Is it home or school? Is it the Prussian-model classroom teacher or the parent, child ( himself doing homework) or paid or unpaid tutors?

Answer: It is entirely possible that the **only** thing our government schools do it send home a very expensive curriculum for the parents, child, and family tutors to follow IN THE HOME!

Answer; If government schooling were really effective, the parental support, that government teachers are always bemoaning ( really after-schooling tutoring by parents) , would be completely and totally irrelevant.

One more thought:

Even if government schools taught basic reading and math ( and there is **NO** proof that they do!) government schools **DO** teach the following:

1) They teach children to think and reason godlessly. The children MUST just to cooperate in the godless classroom. How could it be otherwise?

2) The children risk learning that any voting mob powerful enough to give them tuition-free schooling is powerful enough to give them **lots** of free stuff!

Please remember that government schooling is the very definition of a single-payer, compulsory-use, socialist-entitlement! Nothing “good” can come from that.

It can’t be said often enough!

I just wanted to say that I agree with you 100%. My wife and I never had any children (didn’t want any) but we are so “privileged” as to be able to support others’ children. We pay about the same amount of school taxes as you do.

It would be nice if the governments of the two jurisdictions that we pay property taxes to had some sense of what is fair. But that’s hoping for way too much.

A number of people have been fined,or cited in contempt of court for paying with pennies or small denominations.

Can’t diss Big Brother!

It’s strange that people who can see the folly in other socialism can’t see it in socialized schooling.

If you want to have some fun point out to people using the single payer socialized schools that they are entrusting their kids to classroom bureaucrats five days a week.

Yeah, Pennsylvania’s property taxes are outrageous and are a real sore spot right now in the state legislature. The rural lawmakers want to end them, but Philly and Pittsburgh love them.

School taxes, property taxes, and taxes on labor should all be repealed. Conservatives who oppose paying for deadbeats on welfare should oppose all of them. It’s hypocritical to favor school and property taxes because you personally benefit from them.

If these taxes were eliminated, most who have children would be able to educate their children for much less than the taxes they pay. There would be a free market and the quality of education would be much higher. Without confiscatory tax levels, many families would be able to live comfortably on one income with one parent staying home to provide homeschooling.

Property taxes are a particular abomination. It is like paying extortion to the government in order to keep the home that you have already bought and paid for.

State of Pennsylvania...taxes with OUT representation of the home owners...they taxes what ever they think...and the homeowner has no choice but to pay..and pay and pay..

In OHIO we had levies on the voting ballot...if we didn’t like what was going on in the schools they heard from us at the polls...NOT SO HERE IN PENNSYLVANIA..

I live in the state and folks, we get nothing for our taxes..if you live in a rural area your roads are considered secondary and when it snows your last to see a plow, consider your self lucky to see one once a day during the week, you will see none on week ends..
