I miss America when it was Decent and Good
Vanity | 9/4/2013 | Self

Posted on 09/04/2013 10:16:05 AM PDT by sr4402

I miss America when men were supposed to be decent and good. I miss America when pregnant women were Not sent to the front lines in combat. I miss America when it tried to live within it's means and on a budget. I miss America when religion was considered to be good rather than to be suppressed.

My children miss America, when school lunches were OK and they didn't consider it vomit and went hungry for lack of calories. They miss being told to consider things for themselves rather than being told by the government.

My children will miss when government promoted one man, one woman to make good citizens instead of using those who jumped over our fences. My children will miss being able to choose health insurance for themselves and their families instead to be forced into useless, expensive and limiting govenment healthcare.

Lord, I miss America.

Here in Red England; it isn’t unusual to hear kids using words I wouldn’t think of using...we’re talking five and six year old kids...of course; when you hear their parents; that explains everything.

Yes, there were out of wedlock births but they were roundly condemned and there were so many fewer of them because of the condemnation.

Yes...I remember seventeen and eighteen year old girls being sent out of town for a 'nine month course' at a community college that wasn't available in our area. Mind you; that was as recent as the mid-seventies.

That is one fine post. You should write a book about your childhood. It sounds wonderful.

Well, what are you going to do about it.

To paraphrase from the movie Young Guns "Charlie, if you don't stand up and start whopping some ass, you aren't ever going to see her again."

RE Recollections:

They’re wonderful and at the same time, as I sat there writing them, it was ripping my heart out of my chest...

It’s almost like looking at a Ghost Town... you see it for what it once was, and now all of the familiar faces are gone, replaced by rot and decay.

It’s kind of painful... and this thread and the wonderful posts that others painted just drew me in immediately.

Yeah people... All you Freepers posting your memories on this thread. All you good people who look back and see things that are gone, like watching an old black and white television set with rabbit ears... something’s still there, but it ain’t what it used to be.

I miss everything you do too... we’ve had it forcibly taken from us while we were going about our daily lives, raising our kids, paying our bills, caring for our aging parents... growing gray ourselves.

We were lectured about being “tolerant” and “sensitive” and “non-judgemental” and look where it got us.

Here. Now.

Tolerating the intolerable, being judged by the freakshow, and having OUR sensibilities - OUR traditions, cultures, and morals denigrated, mocked, and demonized.

Somewhere along the way, it seems we forgot how to be “A People”, and believed the bullsh*t that the left spouted about us, our past, our heroes, our traditions, our culture - OUR essence as Americans.

Or maybe not “believed” them so much as we just didn’t pay attention to what they were doing.

But as long as ONE of us remembers it... as long as one of us is here to tell the story of Us... it isn’t gone.

And as long as one of us keeps that FIERCE Americanism in our heart..

As long as as one of us remembers that OUR flag looks different from every other flag on the planet for a reason...

As long as one of us remembers that every freckle-faced kid from Philly, Boise, Sheboygan, Omaha, Trenton, Butte, and a hundred thousand other towns and cities across this country that went away and never came home and left a weeping mother, wife, sister, and grandmother behind them - died so that there would be a place that others could run TO...

As long as ONE OF US remembers and has the courage to stand up and SHOUT that OUR way of life IS and always has been exceptional... then THEY haven’t won.

I love this place... love the whole damned IDEA and IDEAL of this place... And they can’t EVER have this place for free, nor painless.

Yeah. I know. Sounds corny... But I’m serious.

“...What happened to us?...”

The Modern version of Liberalism happened to us.

Socialist/communist bullcrap disguised as “liberal” happened to us.

Liberal in Thomas Jefferson’s sense, used to mean in the protection of individual liberty.

It’s been hijacked.

Boots, my friend, thank you. Good to see you out here.

Campfire or fighting hole, you name it. I’m good for either.

While there’s breath in my lungs brother, I’ll spit at them.

We’ve got to do something. Politically, I’m all for the Amendment V movement, and if it actually gets some support it will help some. But spiritually and morally, that is where the heart of the problem lies. How do you bring belief back to a country in which half or more either don’t believe, or have come to believe false religions? How do you bring morality and character back to a country which doesn’t believe the Bible any more?

Extremely evil and wicked people have worked for 100 years to bring us to this state (beginning with the corruption of the seminaries and universities in the late 1800s). We need to be on our knees praying for wisdom on what we need to do to turn things back. I would give up all the fancy “shiny” things we have today and live a much simpler and plainer life if it meant gaining back that kind of culture.

“...I’m 55 and that was my world, too...”

I suspect it was MOST of our world, for the folks out here, brother.

There’s a whole lot to be said for growing up in row homes in Philly; even though we didn’t have much, we appreciated what we had.

And we had Family and a neighborhood OF families to sustain us through hard times.

I miss those people... and I remember their names, to this day. Frozen in time, as they were then.

They were there for my Mother when dad had the stroke. His VFW and American Legion brothers; his friends from work - all vets.

I will NEVER forget them.

Not a day goes by that I don’t think of them. They truly were the Greatest Generation.

They weren't complainers. I wish they had let me in on what a physical pain in the ass old age really is.

I miss it all too. But there is a solution, people like us need to sacrifice and run for any political Office that we can handle. HOA, School board, PTA, congress, whatever!

Leftists survive off of government handouts and money from foundations, universities and unions. They make careers in politics where we focus on our businesses, jobs and family. We need to take the hit and serve our country like the founding fathers did. They put business on hold so they could serve their time in office.

COMMUNIST GOALS (1963)

Current Communist Goals Documentation

Government Floor
Phone (408)924-2770
Microfilm Call Number: J 11 .R5
Congressional Record, Vol. 109 88th Congress, 1st Session Appendix Pages A1-A2842 Jan. 9-May 7, 1963 Reel 12

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war. DONE

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war. DONE

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength. DONE

4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war. DONE

5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites. DONE

6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination. DONE

7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N. DONE

8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev’s promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N. DONE

9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress. DONE

10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N. DONE

11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N. as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.) ONGOING

12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party. DONE

13. Do away with all loyalty oaths. DONE

14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office. DONE

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States. DONE

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights. DONE

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks. DONE

18. Gain control of all student newspapers. DONE

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack. DONE

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions. DONE

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures. DONE

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.” DONE

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.” DONE

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press. DONE

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV. DONE

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.” DONE

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a “religious crutch.” DONE

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.” DONE

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis. DONE

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.” DONE

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the “big picture.” Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over. DONE

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture—education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc. DONE

33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus. DONE

34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities. DONE

35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions. DONE

37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business. DONE

38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat]. DONE

39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals. DONE

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce. DONE

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents. DONE

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use [”]united force[”] to solve economic, political or social problems. DONE

43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government. DONE

44. Internationalize the Panama Canal. DONE

45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction [over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction] over nations and individuals alike. DONE

Although these goals were as of 1963, all but number 35 have been accomplished - and number 35 has probably been partially accomplished.

This is what happened.

“..They weren’t complainers...”

No, they weren’t... you got that right, friend. They sucked it up, whatever life handed them, and made the best - AND THE MOST - of the time God gave them.

I can sit here and say that I don’t ever remember mom and dad fighting over money even when there was damned little of it. And there was ALWAYS damned little of it, with the old man being disabled.

They worked together, ran the household, and managed to raise three kids, and still found time to love and BE in love with - each other, despite all of their hardships.

Thanks...

It’s still there as long as it’s inside you, ma’am.

You just have to teach others about it so it NEVER goes away, even amidst the garbage we deal with now.

You’re an American, God put you here for a Reason, and He put this COuntry here for a reason as well.

Never forget that.

Yes ma’am. I’ve seen that, a long time ago, on Glenn Beck’s website as far back as 2000.

Should change the name to Democrat Goals, because they’re mostly the ones who let the comms in and become the new Democrat party.
