I know gorillas and chimps are barbaric killers but I cant help but be facinated and intrigued by them. They have many human like qualities and are very inntelligent

Gorillas are NOT killers..they are strictly herbivores, and will attack only if threatened. Chimps are omnivores..they’ll at anything..especially smaller monkeys..

Chimps are very dangerous. They are far stronger than a man and can inflict horrific bites. Apes of course are even more dangerous than chimps.
If I wanted a primate as a pet I would opt for the breed most often chosen by organ grinders and street performers, the Capuchin.
A Capuchin is far more intelligent than a dog..even the brightest dog, the Border Collie, is no match for a Capuchin.
But even the tiny Capuchin could deliver a painful bite.
A nice family film staring a Capuchin is "Monkey Trouble"

When my oldest was two we sent to sea world. At one point she made a friend of a female walrus through the glass. This thing was simply enamored with her. Yes I have pictures.
