Why do you think Walt told Jesse he watched Jane die?
Walt cut emotional ties with Jesse when Jesse threatened his money.

I am starting to think that Walt saves Jesse in the end.

Super intense episode. One of the best of the series. Noooo -— not Holly!
Yeah, I am still bummed by the thought of Hank just dumped into some hole in the desert. He deserved better.
By the end of the final episode I believe that the following will have occurred:
1. Skyler, Marie and the kids have entered a witness protection program.
2. Walt still harbors ideas of reclaiming ‘His’ money from the Redneck Cartel(RC) to be used by his family.
3. Walt launches an assault on the RC compound with the intention of killing all of the RC and to also finish off Jesse.
4. Walt successfully kills the RC with the exception of Jesse. Walt is probably wounded in the shootout and is lying helpless in the compound. Jesse delivers the Coup de Grace to Walt but only after Walt makes Jesse promise that he will see that his family receives the bulk of the money remaining.
5. Jesse calls Saul one last time and makes arrangements with Saul to handle the details surrounding the money, with portions going to Brock and Walt’s family.
6. The last scene will show Jesse climbing into a vehicle and begin to slowly exit the compound with Walt’s body lying prominently in the foreground as the New Mexican sun is beginning to settle behind the mountains.
I have been thinking about the ricin being Walt's way out for a while now. And, I agree. Walt and Jesse's relationship is really complicated. Jesse simply couldn't handle the chaos anymore, especially after Todd killed the boy. But, Walt has always been very protective of Jesse. And, also jealous of him.
When Gus Fring asks Walt why he works with this "junkie", Walt simply replies that, "he does what I tell him". Soon after that Gus starts sending Jesse out with Mike, and I think he was trying to see if Walt is correct and Jesse does what he is told. I think Walt couldn't handle Jesse being involved with anyone but him. There were a lot of reasons to get rid of Fring; but, I have to wonder if one of them was Walt not liking Fring using Jesse for Fring's own purposes.
Jesse belongs to Walt; I'm sure there must be some psychological explanation for it.
yes he did.But I think that is what makes the show so watchable, you don’t know what will happen and it is usually not what we would have imagined.
It is so true that we were not robbed. I was thinking, as someone up thread said, that this is entirely believable. Amazing this story can stay so tight without any shark jumping.
Walt will definitely go back to rescue Jesse, but I have no idea how he learns of Jesse’s situation. The truth about Walt and Jesse’s relationship is that Walt cares about Jesse, and the whole time in the desert when Hank was “arresting” Walt, he felt a deep sense of betrayal. He was hurt, and he told Jesse about Jane to hurt him back.
Here’s one question: what was Jesse telling Todd in the pit? He said something like, “I gave you what you wanted. I told you where the tape is. No one knows about except me and him. Go to his house and you’ll see for yourself.” What is that all about? The confession tape that Walt made in the first episode was crunched up and destroyed, so that’s not it. I am not aware of any other “tape” and the DVD wouldn’t incriminate the rednecks.
Witness protection for Skylar and the kids? Maybe. They have to go somewhere, and the house is empty.
The ricin is for Walt? Maybe. But if he was going to do himself in he wouldn’t choose a drug that takes 3 days.
The ricin is for Lydia? Maybe. But Walt doesn’t hate her and he is no longer in need of trying to maintain his innocence, so there’s no need to eliminate threats to his secret. He doesn’t give a damn about Lydia. I think the ricin is for someone he hates — someone he wants to suffer. I don’t know who.
I really should get out of the Breaking Bad prediction business, because I have been wrong about everything. So I’ll just point out some things I loved about this episode:
Walt rolling that barrel through the desert was sheer poetry, and I loved that truck he bought.
I was impressed with Marie’s confrontation with Skylar — exactly how it might have happened in real life. Skylar’s facial expressions when Marie tells her Walt is in custody is priceless and brilliantly played.
Walt’s desperate attempt to get his family packed and out of the house was chilling. So well acted, filmed, and edited. “We’re a family! A family...” It was then that he realized he lost his family for good. Intense. And when he ever picked up Holly and took off, my mind was blown.
The phone call is evidence that Vince Gilligan is superhuman. Who among us could have imagined such a brilliant turn of events? Such an elegant use of verbal violence designed to absolve Skylar of any involvement, and she quickly caught on with the same sharpness that she has shown throughout the entire series.
I am just happy to have two more episodes to savor. This isn’t just a show. It is an amazing work of art.
Anyone else feel exhausted after watching an episode?? Emotionally draining.

Yes, last night was intense. So many things to talk about. That is why I went right here after. Wanted to see if anyone was talking about it. I think Todd’s character is amazing. He really grows on you with his childish manner and then the evil things he does. He gets one barrel for Walt and then what he does with Jesse!!!

I watched ‘Gliding Over All’ again recently, and this time noticed that when Walt goes to meet Lydia in the restaurant to get the names of the inmates, he brings the ricin vial with him. Once she leaves, he palms it back up off the table before putting his hat on.
I hadn’t noticed that before. This now puts me in the “he poisons Lydia with the ricin” camp - whereas before I thought he’d use it on himself at the very end.
That’s why I said it. I remember that scene well.

I’m 50/50 split now.
Himself - you said he wants to use it on someone he hates. He hates himself now, for what he’s allowed to happen to his family. He’s lost them for good, lost his reputation, lost everything he’d ever cared about. The ricin is HIS creation, and his supreme ego/hubris won’t let him die under anyone’s hand but his own. He knows the cancer is going to eat him away to nothing, and he’d rather go out by a device he created, since it was his other creation that lead to so much devastation.
Lydia - I just noticed today in a rewatch of S05E08 when he meets Lydia in the restaurant to get the inmate names...as he’s leaving he palms the ricin vial back off of the diner table. He brought it there with him to poison her in case she didn’t give up the names. But - she’s really no threat to him now - more of an ally really, if he wanted to play that card.

An incredibly, undeniably intense scene. I was literally yelling at the TV - “STFU AND PACK A BAG...DAMMIT!”
I missed it the first two times I watched it.
I need to start watching it alone...no distractions...haha
I’ve watched all the episodes at least twice. That was season 5 episode 8, which was one of the best episodes. I’ve seen that one three or four times. I love the “Crystal Blue Persuasion” scene.
