A very long article where the writer is on the fence. And tries to be a comic.
Bottom line is those who believe it, and I do, will never be convinced otherwise. The image on the facial cloth that has been proven to have been in France in the 700s, matches the image of blood on the Shroud. This writer wonders about them not knowing of the full body image for centuries. Simple. Jesus left the cloth folded to signify he would be returning. Those who found the folded cloth simply took it with them and didn’t unfold it for a thousand years. I know, it’s pure conjecture but it does make sense. They had seen Jesus. They didn’t need proof.
For those who will never believe it, no amount of scientific data will convince them to change their minds.
It’s called “faith”....Archie Bunker said faith is when people will believe in things nobody in their right minds would believe in.

"Enzymatic removal of the blood from a blood coated fiber reveals that the blood got on the cloth first and therefore protected the blood covered areas of the cloth from the image forming process (3,5,24). All the microscopic, chemical, spectroscopic, and immunological evidence is consistent with these images, not only being exudates from clotted wounds, but those of a man who suffered severe trauma prior to death, explaining the red color of the blood at the microscopic level."
"However, the most interesting characteristic of the images is revealed by computer imaging analysis, particularly that done by a VP-8 image analyzer (3,5,11,28,42). The body image contains realistic 3-dimensional information relating image density at any particular pixel point to the distance between the cloth and the body at that point."

Ping for later. Thanks for posting this.

The nails through the wrist versus the hand have always bothered me. Even with that discrepancy, I believe it is the Shroud.

I use to sit on the fence leaning a little to the believer side until
i realized the “forgery / artist” stories were harder
to believe than the actual shroud story. Things important to people can be saved and passed down thru the generations.

Excellent article on the Shroud. Ignore the author’s attempts at levity, I found a few to be humorous, but most were a bit juvenile. Other than that, a commendable effort.

I think it is authentic, there was no way to fake what happened to the shroud.
Did NOT read the article I have read and seen other items about it.
To: JerseyanExile
I believe it is what it is purported to be, nothing less nothing more.
The idea that a relic forger was capable of such detail and accuracy in the Middle Ages is laughable. Further, at a time when any chicken bone could be produced as the bones of a saint, WHY WOULD ANYONE BOTHER?

I enjoyed the post. So, the question may be asked, do you believe in the Shroud as Jesus the Christ burial shroud?
Don't care. Most Christians don't care, but I'll tell you this, when Christ returns he will separate the goats from the sheep. And no "looking busy" will spare you if you haven't accepted Him as your Savior.
Heads up! [Figuratively and literally]
