This story is not new, but just came to my attention. Hey, this is a big country, people behaving badly around the clock, so it's hard to always get your news 'fresh and hot'. So there's this guy in Utah, a Timothy John Brewer, a 33 years old Sheriff Deputy at the time. Tim spent some evening time sitting around with the family, his wife, Logan Rae, and his Dad, Wesley (Corky) Brewer, who was a Fire Chief.
The family was having after dinner drinks when Logan Brewer announced she was going to put one of the couple's children to bed. Tim realized something was amiss when the child his wife was putting to bed came downstairs with a very odd expression on his face.
Tim told police he approached the child's bedroom door only to find it locked, but managed to get the door open. He then discovered his father and his wife on the child's bed having sex together. Tim says at that point, he 'just lost it'. Tim assaulted his father, left the room, then returned with a gun. He backhanded his wife and pointed his pistol in her face. Logan Brewer then ran out of the house to her parents home. Tim pistol-whipped his Dad, who ran to his home looking for his own gun with the intention of shooting himself. Wesley's wife hid his gun, so in the chaos of the moment, Wesley grabbed a knife and stabbed himself twice, piercing his lung and liver. Wesley was then rushed to the nearby hospital for emergency care.
Police were called to the hospital because Tim was attempting to force his way past his Uncle, also a sheriff's deputy, so that he could confront his father and 'finish the job'. Tim is believed to have still been drunk at the time. Timothy was arrested and charged with attempted homicide, and assaulting a police officer, plus child endangerment.
Charges were reduced to assault against an officer, which could get him two years in prison. Both Brewers have since quit their jobs as officers of the law. Logan is not pressing charges against Tim for frightening her by pointing that gun in her face. This sounds like something from Shakespere with names and locations changed to reflect the times.
Sounds like a Springer episode waiting to be filmed.
Really??
Incest! A game the whole family can play!
Sigh... two more days to the weekend. Can’t get drunk, too old to cry... I think I’ll just beat my head against the wall for a bit.
This is the natural result of the precipitous moral decline America is freefalling through.
You can’t make this stuff up...
and yet...with all of those guns mentioned, nobody got shot.
They musta been defective or sumthin
It’s an episode of YeeHawww!!!....Plus Springer...it’s a given...
Small town values again?
Or it is the act of a few people with bad judgement, and the people who didnt’ do the crime and wouldn’t are not guilty of anything.
utah. nuff said.
I thought Jerry Springer was only in re-runs.
Utah...mormons?
where is the link and i need pictures of this family
Attempted homicide - heck I think the young man’s actions were more than reasonable considering the mind bending visual he had just gotten - I am surprised his Dad and Wife are not dead!
Poor b%stard what a thing to have happen to you!
The poor guns couldn’t find any “innocent” black teenage boys returning home from the convenience store with some arizona “iced tea” and skittles to take aim at.
I lived in Utah for 14 years and I am not surprised about this.
“I am surprised his Dad and Wife are not dead! Poor b%stard what a thing to have happen to you!”
Maybe they were all drunk - those two having sex while the son/husband was downstairs. That is asking for big trouble. I, too, am surprised someone didn’t get shot.
That is a situation that would try the restraint of even the
angels. If I sat on a jury for this guy I’d probably go with
a temp insanity plea. All things considered he actually did
exercise considerable restraint.
“Logan Brewer then ran out of the house to her parents home. Tim pistol-whipped his Dad, who ran to his home looking for his own gun with the intention of shooting himself.”
I can understand this set-up when one lives in a “holler” in West Virginia. But Utah? Although perhaps it is a remnant of the Morman, “tight-knit” family thing.
Just one more reason I guess not to live TOO close to family.
