Sure, the Divine Miss M hits similar topics via Twitter, but she doesn't mind reaching back into history to smite the GOP from a different angle.
This week, Midler revisited World War II with a tweet claiming the GOP wanted America to lose in its fight against the Axis powers.
.@GOP treats Mr. Obama the way they treated FDR in WWII. They did everything they could to ensure an Allied loss.
There's a method to Midler's social media madness--she's trying to prop up President Barack Obama. The failing, flailing president blames everyone else for a stalled economy and a host of "phony" scandals, and she's only too eager to do the same.

I think this crazy bitch needs another session with Nick Nolte.
All of you Jakes have it wrong. Remember, in 1973 she had a hit record called ‘The Boogie-woogie Bugle of Company B’. It was a recycled song from the War.
See, she is an expert on WWII.
Like any politician, they were pushing to get votes. The Germans and Italians generally, did not want the US fighting against their (former) countrymen. The Irish were not willing to support the British in a war. One can understand why the Pubbies did this, though as a Canadian who had relatives in both WW1 and WW2, I have a difficult time with the two year delay in fighting Naziism.
In Canada, our government declared war one week after Britain did, the delay was a sop to Quebec and required Prime Minister MacKenzie King promised no conscription to get Quebec on-side. English Canada was massively for the war while Quebec was isolationist, not wanting to fight an ‘English’ war.
Damnit !!!!
Had to clean up my dinner. I accidentally spit it out as I read the headline.
That’s just so stoopit and funny.
Yup. History is never so simple that it can be accurately portrayed in a 140 character tweet and morons shouldn’t even try.
Throw Bette off the train...
She’s still alive?
Of course Ike wanted to prolong the war. So that he could be a big war hero and maybe served 4 elected terms like FDR.
Just be eternally grateful that FDR’s pro-Stalinist VP was replaced by Harry S Truman before he died in office.
CC
what the HELL is she drinking, snorting, or pumping into her veins cause she’s a nutcase!
Batty Meddler should stick to her day job as a crooning crone.
Shouldn’t she be singing at a gay bathhouse right now.
Funny, when Republican President Dwight Eisenhower wanted to push through Civil Rights Legislation in 1959, a Democrat named Lyndon Baines Johnson blocked it.
Not as funny, Democrat Al Gore Sr. and Bill Clinton’s Mentor, Senator Fulbright both Voted against the Civil Rights Act in 1964.
I won’t bother going on about a certain former KKK member who happened to be a Democrat that fought it tooth and nail.
Only good thing she did was “Ruthless People”.
Thanks drewh.

p.s., Bette's television (or so she thinks):
And does this pathetic old hose bag have any facts to back up her outrageous claim about the GOP wanting to lose the war?
Midler is too stupid to be an idiot.
