Excuse the vanity, but the matter of Zimmerman getting out of his vehicle has not been understood by me. Why did that occur? I have not followed the trial as closely as many have and I've never quite gotten that. Thanks in advance. Kate
*mal-intent*.
Admin Mod,
Would you mind pulling this thread please? I didn’t anticipate the firestorm here. Thanks and best regards.
Kate
Watch a lot of MSNBC, do you?
He was told by a telephone dispatcher, not a cop, "we don't need you to do that" when he said he was following Martin.
He wasn't told not to follow him. He wasn't told to stay in his car. He wasn't told anything by law enforcement. He wasn't ordered to do or not to do anything.
Kate...I do appreciate your curiosity and believe it to be sincere. What concerns me greatly, in general, is that the majority of Americans were INCURIOUS to the truth. Why didn’t you, or many others, listen to the tapes, watch the reenactment, read the statements from witnesses? It would have been quite clear what happened.
For the record, George called the non emergency # when he saw a hooded black teen in the neighborhood, where they have been robbed mercilessly by same. He was on the phone in the car for quite a while. He tells the dispatcher ‘he ran’ and the dispatcher asks, which way did he go, where are you at, what’s he wearing...? All questions that would cause a good citizen to want to retrieve the answers. You then hear the car door open (ding ding ding) and GZ is walking, looking for addresses. You can hear wind in the phone, some wrongly say he was running, and the dispatcher asks ‘are you following him’ and GZ says yes. The dispatcher says ‘we don’t need you to do that’, more than likely implying they don’t need GZ to inconvenience himself in the rain; the police will find him. GZ says OKAY and starts to walk back to his car where he is surprised by TM and then promptly sucker punched in the face. By the way Kate, this is now a very common place occurrence in the young black community; it’s called ‘knock out king’.
This is the story...I wish many were interested in the facts BEFORE George’s life was ruined.
Because it was his job as neighborhood watch commander to keep an eye on the neighborhood. The question you should be asking is why didn't Trayvon Martin go home after he took off running? He had four minutes to cover a distance of 100 yards. Yet instead of running to the safety of a home as one who felt threatened, he instead doubled back and viciously attacked a pedestrian in the neighborhood.
This isn't Lion Country Safari. There are no rules in place telling you to stay in your car. There are no lions roaming about seeking to devour anyone they please. Except in this case, there really was a lion. And knowing that, we also get the response of the Lion Country Safari folks telling you to stay in their car. Because both parties know that there are lions about. Except that the Lion Country Safari folks don't complain about the death of a lion when one of them decides to attack a person. Instead, they apologize for it.
Had those distances been reversed, a credible claim could be made that GZ had followed TM. That wouldn’t necessarily have been true but the claim would have been more credible. With the distances as they were, TM came back after GZ.
I would have gotten out of the car, too. IF I was armed.
I appreciate you and your response. I’ve never heard that term knock out king before. The state of black youth and communities is such a terrible shame. Regards.
Now that many of us have put considerable effort into clarifying your questions you want the thread pulled? That’s just wonderful.
Maybe Trayvon the One was on drugs? Looking for a fight? Didn’t want to be caught doing something? So many questions. He was a THUG....too bad his parents did not raise him better.
‘Cause fellow Americans CAN get out of vehicles?
Wow, I’m glad I wasn’t long the president of our condo association back in the 90s. I, too, followed and watched people who I thought were up to no good. I didn’t pack heat but I often was threatened by the people I tracked. They were not candidates for the Jean Hersholdt award!
TigersEye, I leave that to the mod’s discretion. I suggested it because there is upset, obviously.
I will remember in the future not to waste my time posting on threads you put up. I hope you at least watched the 12 minute video I posted a link to in post #40.
I was merely pointing out that you, obviously, hold an opinion regarding whether Zimmerman was right or wrong for getting out of the vehicle, and what his intent behind doing so was. Just state it: I believe x, y, z, what does everyone else think? This is an emotionally charged case, for a lot of reasons. How could you not forsee people being on edge when confronted by an open ended question? No offense, just my $0.02.
Only one person alive knows the answer to your question. We could all speculate until the cows come home, and likely all be incorrect. His explanation, as offered to authorities, was scrutinized and judged by a jury. We know the result.
I don't think that eating the Skittles and drinking the Arizona Ice Tea is what Martin had in mind. Google is your friend.
are you sure about that?
It is heartbreaking what’s going on in our great country and the media should be ashamed to the core of their souls. They’re not of course but I do hope and pray that a silver lining of this incident is that people automatically believe the media is lying to them every time they open their traps.
I totally believe your busy to the point of not being able to sift through the minutae. Many of my friends and family are the same and they’ve been dependent on snippets in the media to keep them informed. And, because of that, they have been deceived.
Don’t pull the thread; we’re all just very frustrated here that the facts are FAR DIFFERENT than the media wanted us to believe and it is a crying shame.
He got out of the car to find the street number because he couldn’t read it from the car. The dispatcher wanted to let the police officers know where to respond to the call. He was walking back to his car when Trayvon cold-cocked him.
Because he thought America was still a free country where one does not have to endure a beat down by a thug for doing so.
Come on, you can tell us.
A shame indeed, friend. And heartbreaking too. Peace.
