I have an uncle who worked in Charlottesville, VA for over a decade. The locals gave him a pretty hard time for being a Yankee (even though he was a fishin’, tough guy Yankee). Is it possible that these gals were from out of state and therefore worthy of special attention by the local LEO?

Alcoholic Beverage Commissions tend to attract Barney Fifes as enforcers, even here in Texas. I was at a bicycle race (USCF sanctioned) in Tyler, TX (Smith County being a dry county) in 1991, when I was accused by one enforcer of advertising for Lone Star Beer. My offense was riding for Lone Star Racing Team, whose sole sponsor was Katy Schwinn. Not good enough.
