Jaysus! Is this becoming a trend, or what? (Incredibly stupid law-breaking cops, I mean)?
In the first place, even if it had been beer, is carrying beer to your car now a crime?
Breaking windows? We trust cops to exercise restraint and not fire guns into a crowd, for example, this is yet another example where common sense and judgement are lacking.

The woman was on edge after spending the night listening to stories from dozens of sexual assault survivors at an annual "Take Back the Night" vigil on Grounds, said Daly's defense attorney, Francis Lawrence.

Wow, they had no idea how old she was, and weren’t sure what she was carrying, and that is their probable cause.

ABC agents in plain clothes with guns looking for underage drinkers in a college town? How about a SWAT doing no nock raids on dorm rooms?

There were 7 of these thugs operating together?Sounds like they got the message about going out in squad strength when harrassing the public.

The whole society gets dumber, and we’re surprised that LEOs fall right along with it?
What happens when our military is nothing but the new-age morons we’re churning out? We’ll be like the UN peace keeping forces that rape and pillage.
20 years from now we won’t be able to make fun of groups like the UN because we’ll be worse, if we don’t fall apart and start killing each other before then.
People say “hit the reset button”, but that only works if you either secede from the other 50% of the country, or kill them.
We are screwed. There’s going to be a whole lot of surprised people when it comes crashing down, too.

I have an uncle who worked in Charlottesville, VA for over a decade. The locals gave him a pretty hard time for being a Yankee (even though he was a fishin’, tough guy Yankee). Is it possible that these gals were from out of state and therefore worthy of special attention by the local LEO?
Unrelated: the LaCroix box is in shades of pastel blue that could not possible be mistaken for any beer I have ever seen.

Alcoholic Beverage Commissions tend to attract Barney Fifes as enforcers, even here in Texas. I was at a bicycle race (USCF sanctioned) in Tyler, TX (Smith County being a dry county) in 1991, when I was accused by one enforcer of advertising for Lone Star Beer. My offense was riding for Lone Star Racing Team, whose sole sponsor was Katy Schwinn. Not good enough. With his reasoning one could not sell or use Lone Star Natural Gas, Lone Star Steel, or Lone Star Cement.

Now Elizabeth Daly will have an arrest record for assault follow her for the rest of her life. She can try, for a fee, to have the record expunged, but the public record is now on the internet; it will be found with any search tool.
