Not really, otherwise you would not leave the place of your birth.
I have enjoyed every country that I have visited or lived in. One makes friends quite easily in a new country.
Even though I now live in a third world country, I have no fears.
If I were back in a big US city, I would be afraid, very afraid, especially in Memphis, the city of my birth.
It has gone from 40w/60b to 60b.

wow, lots of chest beating on this thread. But I bet most people won’t even drive in the HOV lane when they want by themselves. Or take their seat belts off. Some fighters, where were they the past decades.

That is quite noble of you, but the “freedom loving” are diminishing, and America is now going Communist. How good are they on your flank?
America was founded by men who left THEIR home countries.
Would you castigate them?

Next trip will be around the horn BA to Santiago.

Sounds great.

CR has been on my list and the canal, but I’m getting old.

The Canal is really impressive. One thing I liked about Panama is the govt is reinvesting the revenue in infrastructure putting in a modern subway system and they are building a 3rd canal that will accommodate larger ships. However, Nicaragua is trying to work out a deal with China to put in another canal.

What we fail to recognize in the USA is there are countries and regions that are growing even though we are stagnant. Brazil has the 6th largest economy in the world. Central America is growing and Panama is growing at better than 7% a year.

“Our enemy - - - - can’t survive 10 miles out of the city...- - - “

And may I add the big cities will not survive if the SHTF for all logistics and other support must come from the outside of cities. Without electricity goes heat, sewer and water. Without transportation goes food and fuel as well as other important supplies.

Your still free to come and go as you please. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

I think a lot of people expect some big physical confrontation. I don't believe that's whats going to happen. I believe what we are seeing now is how one day everyone will wake up and realize if they don't do what the govt wants they will have a miserable life. The govt is taking over healthcare. The govt has effective control over the banking system through regulation, the fed. res., and the CFTC. The military is being converted into a PC run bureaucracy. The family is being destroyed and the govt will step in and raise the children more aggressively in the future. So as this happens who do you physically fight?

I've been a life long conservative. I contribute to campaigns, work at my local Pub office and have been an election judge. All my friends know where I stand and I've tried to convince the lost of the error of their ways. So it's not like I haven't been fighting the fight.

However, during the course of my life I've been blessed to have a successful real estate business. As a businessman I'm looking to hedge against downside risk. So I'm buying real estate outside the USA now and establishing banking relationships outside the USA. If that makes me less than a hero so be it. But I'll be damned if I'm going to let a bunch of socialists take everything I've worked for all my life. I want my children to have some of the same opportunities I've had and to do that I need to be able to pass on capital to them.

Don’t worry, I have been out for some time, and the door did not hit me. The country that I grew up in no longer exist.
That door is still wide open and many are following me.
Get back to us in a few years and tell us how you are surviving in The Communist States of Obozoland. That is, if you can.

Good for you. It is better to be safe then sorry.
I feel for the “dog in a manger” types. I hope they make a plan, other then expecting the USA to return to the country that we grew up in. I feel no optimism for that happening in my lifetime.
