I did not leave because of the current upheaval.
I was living in Europe before I had ever heard of Barky Obumbo.
I am, however, very thankful that I started international travel when I did.
I am now on Social Security. There is no way that I could live in the US on what I get, and I would be living in misery.
Since I left the USSA, I have been happy as a clam.

I feel for the “dog in a manger” types. I hope they make a plan, other then expecting the USA to return to the country that we grew up in. I feel no optimism for that happening in my lifetime.

I agree.

I don't see a return to a country that values individuality, freedom, hard work and values the risk takers. Each new generation is being taught to value collectivism over individual decisiveness. No one is personally responsible for the consequences of their actions and each new generation is being sold on the idea they can "have it all" and someone else must pay for it. I don't see this changing.

One thing that I liked in Panama was the raw energy of a country in the midst of an economic boom. They are in the process of raising their standard of living and the people I've met and come to know are refreshingly entrepreneurial. The USA is killing this attitude.
