Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) opponents warned it would happen, but now there’s mounting proof that full-time employees are being replaced with part-timers, at least in the retail industry where Walmart is focused on keeping the majority of workers to part-time hours only.
A new hiring policy uncovered by Reuters shows that nearly half of its stores are only hiring part-time employees, thus avoiding the mandate to provide health care or pay a fine.

Colorado, of course they all fail the drug tests since pot is “legal” now.
These protesters are all paid fir by an organization that calls itself “Our Walmart”. Walmart actually won a court order against them.
People who smoke pot and try to get a job, cant.Then they get accused of being too lazy.The tests do not determine high on the job vs get high on time off.Then there is the insurance issues.High price to pay for individual freedom.
Let me guess that George Soros and labor unions funded the protests and the protesters do not actually work at WM either?
I work retail as well...we have just one full-time person in each dept...and management was from salary to hourly.
Didn’t affect me because I only want part-time work...but others saw it coming once Obamacare passed.
It’s certainly not only WalMart. It’s MacDonalds. It’s Wendy’s. It’s K Mart. It’s your local grocery. It’s where you park your car. Zero has made the 40 hour week impossible for most all who chose not to get a good education hence a good job.
BTW I was reading some of the Physicians are eliminating Insurances altogether...going self pay by their patients...and it’s working.
Apparently the patients pay a monthly fee...say $5O.
A low cost office visit when they need one.
These Physicians are joining together across the nation now and attempting to give an alternative to Obamacare.
Those who have already started say they have far better care for their patients as they can spend as much time with them as they choose.....and they are making almost as much money without the headaches of Insurance companies.
I need to look at it further as I just read about it today.
also note that Obamacare made new and expanded physician-owned hospitals illegal.... likely for just that reason
A distant cousin works in Buffalo making great wages as a garbage man. Put his kids thru college and a comfortable home for them. Would have never guessed!
Many who are working in the retail establishment I’m at DO have good educations....so they are taking anything they can get since jobs in their field just are not opening up.
Retailers really don’t want long-term employees ( no raises)...it’s less expensive to train new ones. Which is why you see so much turnover in retail.
Might be so...as I understand it the Physicians utilize ‘current’ hospitals who adjust rates for them....so I wouldn’t think it would apply since it’s not owned by them.
