Bill Clinton was named “Father of the Year” by the National Father’s Day Committee on Tuesday as the former leader was celebrated by family and friends for his accomplishments as a dad.
“I [RECEIVED]a text message from Hillary saying, ‘Congratulations. I think you deserve this,” a smiling Bill Clinton told an audience at a Save the Children benefit, where he was presented the award. “In our family, that’s a very big deal,” he said, according to PARADE.
The former President’s daughter, Chelsea Clinton, made a surprise appearance to honor her dad. “Every day he’s my dad, and I don’t need an award to tell me he’s the best that I ever could have hoped for,” she said. The former President went on to recount the arrival of his only daughter in a touching speech.
Clinton, 66, said the baby was in a breech position when they arrived at the hospital and baby Chelsea would have to be delivered via cesarean section.
“If you send (Hillary) into that room without me, I think you’re making a big mistake … I want to see my daughter born,” Bill Clinton recalled.
“They let me go in and hold Hillary’s hand. I saw Chelsea come out,” he added. “And from that day to this, I have believed without the shadow of a doubt that it was the greatest thing that ever happened to me.”
Chelsea, now 33, made a surprise appearance, too, much to the delight of her father.
“Every day he’s my dad, and I don’t need an award to tell me he’s the best that I ever could have hoped for,” she said. “But I’m grateful he’s getting the recognition that I, his unapologetically biased daughter, think he’s always deserved.”

I’m trying to discover who or what the National Fathers Day Council is, but I can’t find anything.
This appears to be their website—but it seems to have been thrown together by who know who? And the home page gives no indication whatever who they are.
