Meg, I wish we could have all gathered there on that lawn and porch, today, for our special July 4th picnic. The cool breeze, the water, the shade - it would be perfect!
(((((Love you All)))))
When a general returned from a victorious battle, ancient Rome would stage a parade to welcome the conqueror home. The parade would include the generals troops, as well as trophy captives who had been brought along as evidence of the victory. As the parade made its way through the city, the crowds would cheer their heros success.
To prevent the generals ego from becoming unduly swollen, a slave rode along with him in his chariot. Why? So that as the Roman throngs heaped praise on the general, the slave could continually whisper in his ear, You too are mortal.
When successful, we too may lose sight of our own frailty and allow our hearts to fill with destructive pride. James pointed us away from the danger of pride by pointing us to humility and to God. He wrote, God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). The key to that statement is grace. Nothing is more wonderful! The Lord alone deserves thanks and praiseespecially for the grace He has lavished on us.
Our achievements, success, or greatness are not rooted in ourselves. They are the product of Gods matchless grace, upon which we are eternally dependent.
Read: James 4:6-17
Good Morning FRiends,
Just to say hello before I get on my way. I have a doctor’s appointment today...ugh! Always glad to get that over with. I hate getting ready to go, etc. I’d rather take a nap...LOL!
I will get that nap in sometimes though, you can bet on it!
Hope all of you have a good day. Its still a little dreary day but the sun is trying to shine! It probably will shine
before the day is over (I hope).
See you all later in the day, I hope. I hope all of you enjoyed that delicious picnic we had yesterday....LOL! “Oh what fun it is to play.”
See ya’ll later! ((((HUGS))))
I hope you post a picture of Shanah soon. I know she’s a cutie and probably spoiled rotten.
See you later!!
Love that beautiful picture, Meg.
Isn’t there a book “The Razors Edge”?
It’s title is interesting. We know we can not walk or balance on a razor’s edge. It is extremely sharp. In life where do we choose to walk? ‘Right’ and ‘wrong’ is not always easily or thoughtfully discerned.
Man is not wise enough to see into the future. God’s way is the path to walk, It is written for all to read, contemplate and to follow in sincere faith and belief. We are to be obedient to the commands and instructions of God which are scattered through out His HOLY BIBLE. It is for us to read, and study and obey His Word, and to learn of God and what God has done and intends in the future. It is our choice ... for good or for our selfish desires. Mankind is weak and foolish much of the time. What have we decided to follow?
... Jesus Christ or the babble of the time/day? Choose well/wisely...
Praise the LORD God Almighty, His Son, Jesus Christ and the HOLY SPIRIT. Amen, Amen.
God Bless the USA! Neil Diamond sand his song last evening.
I had forgotten what a great song he wrote and sang.
