Vanity. In over a decade of being a Freeper, this is my first vanity.

Posted on 05/28/2013 11:03:23 AM PDT by republicanbred

So I am trying to not make this post into a pity party. I just want to get some input from other Freepers regarding facing these issues in their family. I am a pro-second amendment, pro-life, anti-Obama woman. I am also very strong in my belief in God. Okay, all that said I am in a position where all of my extended family with few exceptions are complete Obama koolaid drinking fanatics, anti-God, pro gay rights, pro abortion up to and including delivery. I have used FB for a while to post my views, I have quite a following because of it. My entire liberal family is blocked from my posts. My comments such as, "those who support abortion are no different than the Germans who stood by and watched while Jews were thrown into ovens" were deemed offensive by them when they were on my FB. I mention that one because they keep throwing it in my face. Anyway, I am at a place where I need to either make peace with some of them for the good of the family by apologizing for offensive comments, or say, "I am who I am, and if it takes me shouting this from the rooftops for it to be heard then so be it." I keep thinking about the American revolution and the Civil War, brothers against brothers, and believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are in the fight of our lives under this POTUS. Because those of us willing to stand up and share the truths of what is going on in this country are a minority, I know many of you face the same issues. Any thoughts on how you have handled or would handle it?

Stay strong, keep believing what you know to be right, and be polite to those who are wrong. But never concede. Keep hitting the ‘like’ button on conservative stuff, and if they get pissed off, too bad.

Tell ‘em, you love them, you are STILL family with them, BUT...You cannot agree to disagree.

IF they ever really need you (as a family member) then they know where you are, but at this time, y’all just need to go your separate ways.

They’ll be offended as hell, but you will know that you took the right road.

Hey Ken, Thanks for asking how I turned out conservative amid all the liberalism. My father was a staunch conservative from a family of die-hard democrats. My mom came from a religious home of Republican parents who converted my Dad when he married my Mom. Though my Mom was conservative, my Dad was a passionate conservative. You know how a convert often becomes the most converted? That was my Dad. In middle elementary school I was already working with my Dad on letter writing campaigns to congressman for the NRA. We always discussed current politics at the dinner table. I was well informed in my childhood years on communism, socialism and what made America the Beacon on the Hill. He instilled in me a passion for the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. He also discussed abortion with me at a young age. He told me there was nothing so horrible that it should end the life of a child. No matter what happened to me and how horrible I felt or the shame I felt, a child of mine would always be loved in our home. (Though with the values I had that was never an issue that had to worry about.). With all that said, my sibling is a flaming liberal, and the majority of my cousins from the same grandparents are as well. My husband is like I am and our children are as well. My father is long passed, and sometimes I am glad he has not lived to see the destruction in this country, and the fact that many of his own posterity support it. It would have broken his heart.

That’s funny that they think of you that way. I am looked at as crazy as well. I am coming to the place where I look at that as a badge of honor.

It is that serious to me as well. I am beginning to walk away from friends who continue to support Obama and his agenda. I just don’t have the energy for the relationships.

I appreciate your honesty of your situation. It is at least good to know others have the same struggles and difficult decisions on how to resolve them. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing your personal history..I gather your parents were a wonderful influence in your formative years..maybe I should have posed the question as “how did your sibling turn out to be a flaming liberal”..where did he go off the rails..and how’d your parents deal with it?

Ken, That is a question I continue to ask myself. Kind heart, would do anything for anyone, honest to the core, atheist, pro-abortion, socialist. I would say the biggest factor is the union. Both my sibling and spouse are members of very big and powerful unions. I think it started there. I believe unions have had a hand in the destruction of this country far greater than most people realize. One of my best friends for much of my life, same thing. Growing up she was as conservative as me, it bonded us in so many ways. Today her and her husband are members of big and powerful unions and you guessed it...Obama koolaid drinkers. If the fact that the IRS has it’s own union, supported with OUR tax dollars, that gives 99% of its donations to the democrats doesn’t scare he heck out of Americans then we truly are screwed. So that is my advice. Make sure you steer your kids clear of union jobs. They are cess pools of socialists/ communists that destroy them. Oh, and in the world today keep them out of public school.

welcome to the club, you are not alone. Pray for your family and don’t associate with the ones who abuse you verbally. You don’t have to stand for it. You now understand how evil and mean spirited, and two faced these intolerant democrats are.
