Stonington A Quaker Hill man was charged with reckless driving Saturday after police say he drove 139 miles per hour on Interstate 95.
Stewart V. Williams, 25, of [Adress redacted by Moi --TSR], Quaker Hill, was charged with reckless driving, greater than 85 mph.
According to State Police, Williams was traveling northbound near exit 92 when a trooper used a laser clock to read the speed of his 2012 Audi R8 at 139 miles per hour in a 65-miles-per-hour zone. Williams was stopped and taken into custody. He was released on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at GA 10 in New London on May 17.
He just laughed and went to write me up.
I’ve had my ‘95 Porsche up to 135 MPH - twice.
The first time (solo), I thought my heart would jump out of my chest.
The 2nd time (not solo), I thought my wife would tear my heart out of my chest.
And chipped. Not that I would know anything about that. :-)
Nice, albeit high-maintenance, ride.
I know that stretch of road and have had my MB C230 Sport flirting with 100 MPH there but I wouldn’t want to do more, with the hills you’re always running out of road that is visible. The Conn. state police make a big deal out of speeding and have most of the residents of the state cowed, good for this guy for just going full throttle.
Memories......LOL.
95mph in a 1980 Honda Civic 1500GL with 4 guys in the car.
Thats a great old song, i always liked the lines:
With a four barrel carb and dual exhausts
With four-eleven gears you can really get lost
Got safety tubes, but I ain’t scared
The brakes are good, the tires fair
One of the best aspects of being stationed in Germany for 3 years was going wide open on the Autobahns. I bought a new SAAB Turbo before I left and would go up to 135 MPH routinely. It was a big let-down shipping that car home. Probably broke a 100 a few times in the states, but it wasnt worth the trouble getting caught...
umm yep
Yessir. I had an 85 with the z52 suspension. Talk about feel the road at speed.
It started shaking like a paint mixer, so I backed off.
ROFLOL! Very funny, but yeah, a ticket and wait a second...
wow, can’t believe you or anyone else could say something
like that at a time like that. OTOH they can only ticket
you once for speeding. Again, very funny.
Pedal to the medal baby!!! LOL
141 in my old turbo Porsche 944. Had a little more to go but started thinking about the old tires on it.
I used to regularly bury the speedometer past 120mph in my old 1968 Chrysler Newport, and that was on a two-lane country highway. Yep, lucky to still be on this side of the sod.
I say let him cool his heels in state prison for 2 years. And then a lifetime driving ban.
