Newly released diplomatic cables from the 1970s reveal that the State Department once believed that old automobile parts were actually fragments that fell from space
Officials excitedly relayed the discovery of space debris found in New Zealand to the Secretary of State, NASA and the Department of Defense, according to the cables, which were acquired by transparency group MuckRock in a Freedom of Information Request shared with Whispers.
"Two apparent space fragments have been located in New Zealand... both are spherical, perhaps pressure vessels, bear no identifying marks, and caused no physical or personal damage upon impact," an unnamed official from the U.S. Embassy in Wellington, New Zealand wrote in a cable marked "secret" and "immediate," and addressed to the Secretary of State. The official also reported that the "space balls" had been initially picked up by local farmers.

Spaceballs? Oh sh**, there goes the planet.
Yo Got’sta to be kidding me..... no wonder our nation is in trouble, morons at the helm.
Another completely un-funny movie by that guy. I think I just don’t have the gene that makes that guy’s movies even remotely funny. Heck I’ve been forced to see all the movies and can’t even remember his name.
Just harmless auto parts.
“I’m surrounded by A##holes!”
Everything was downhill after Young Frankenstein.
Wow. Well we all like what we like and don’t what we don’t, but I didn’t think there was a person alive that didn’t laugh like a mainiac at Blazing Saddles (Mel Brooks BTW)
Guilty as charged.
While watching Django the other day, there were some parts that reminded me of Blazing Saddles.
When I was living in Corpus Christi they shut down a section of the beach and called out the bomb disposal squad from the Naval base for a clutch that had washed up.
Yes people really are that stupid.
The campfire scene and Korman yelling “Faggots!!!” in the musical scene floor me every time.
I need to watch it again...been a few months.
Scuze me while I whip this out....
Mel Brooks is fantastic! But understand the missing gene...
Feel the same about Ben Stiller in everything but the outlandish roles (zoolander, Dodge ball...), the anchorman guy, and happy Gilmore...
Cheers
I'll say. We're surrounded by @$$holes!
Mel brooks?
Space balls was one of his mediocre films
But he made 4 superb comedies. The producers, blazing saddles, 12 chairs and my favorite comedy of l time “Young Frankenstein”
I can believe it... However, today they would close the beach and scrape up all the sand, on the off chance it were an old clutch with asbestos friction material.
Yes people really are that stupid.<
And getting dumber all the time, especially in government!
Mark
No, friends, I really have seen all of those movies. I think that maybe because I am Jewish I just don’t get it, but I have other Jewish friends who think he’s funny. Really, I just find it crass and and just... Not good. Love Marx Brothers, adore other directors that clearly influenced him... But I just don’t, ummm, find him funny at all.
