Rush's caller asked him when he was going to do another "inaugural speech" like the one he did at CPAC four years ago when he famously said he hoped Obama fails.
After the call, he mused that some evenings when everyone was asleep, he'd sip an adult beverage and think about possibly buying some time on network TV to try and reach Americans who don't get info anywhere else. (Snerdly cracked that he could get that time cheaper on NBC.)
Of course Rush ended with a "Shhh, don't tell anybody. This is just something I wonder about when I'm alone" (paraphrased), which means attacks will be all around by tomorrow morning from the lib press. "How dare he?" "Who does he think he is?" "No one wants to hear his racist blather!" Etc.
But what do conservatives think? On the plus side, the critics will be all over his half hour no prompter or note speech, so even if low info voters don't actually watch, they can't avoid the constant critique of it. If Rush aimed for the critics and their antagonism, he might head them off at the pass and reach people and change minds, especially if he did it a few times. And if the ratings were good enough, the network might even cancel some dating show and pick him up for prime time! If MSNBC cared about money, maybe they'd hire him to do a Point - Counterpoint with Maddow! (A girl can dream; he'd wipe the floor with that ball of sarcasm in a boy's Eton suit.)
Better for us mind numbed robots.
This is one of those times.
Agree
I dont think low information voters are going to stay tuned in to him long enough to get anything out of it.
I so disagree. I lived in Europe when he started out on the national stage. Everything I heard about him through the liberal press was that he was an absolute Monster Shock Jock. When I came back to the States, I was dying to hear this jokester to hear why everyone hated him so much. I loved him from the first time. Ad he brought me into the light; I was politically very out of it. I voted for Clinton (the first time). I was a card carrying Low Info Voter.
He is still turning heads to the right today. You just have to actually listen.
I can picture people popping corn and settling into the reclining couch to have themselves a little laugh. Then Rush flash blinds them with Obama hypocrisies and their little worlds blow apart. There are a lot of blacks and Jews who feel they HAVE TO support Obama but they don’t actually know why. Many voters are easy to bamboozle with groupthink.
No we don't and for sure it does the Republic no good if Rubio manages to get the amnesty bill passed. Rush know that and told Rubio as much, but he defends his friendship with him by shrugging off his blind ambition. Today he called him naive, I call him a traitor and no friend of the Republic.
Back in the days before TiVO and DVR the time slot was a killer. In my market Rush was on at 2:30 AM. I taped the show all week and watched it on Sundays. So it was a bit stale. But overall I thought he was a fine host. Certainly better than the bombastic numbnuts that we have on TV today.
Buy an abundance of :30 spots on junk tv like “Real Housewives”, etc.
What happened to the thread? It’s cutting off after post 12 and I can’t see the rest! Admin mods?
The whole Rubio thing is a separate issue. I admit to not understanding Rush on this. Rush on illegal immigration should be a separate thread.
But Rush definitely has the knack for explaining conservatism to libs or apoliticals. For this, he is ideal. I hope he gives it a shot.
I do hear Rush Limbaugh morning updates. This one from April 26, 2013

These stations play the morning update:

I heard that his ratings have been falling. Anyone have any truth on this?
I don’t know about his ratings but since the election, many conservatives, including Rush, have been somewhat without hope or with less hope.
(Ironically, lol)
That could have caused people to listen to conservatives less, since we all thought, HOW CAN WE LOSE TO THIS GUY?
I was listening live at the time. He said both. He said Rubio was naive about immigration and I clearly heard him say that Rubio doesn’t support amnesty, as his transcript will eventually show.
Of course Rubio supports amnesty. Any forgiveness - of any crime - without punishment constitutes amnesty.
I’ve always believed that RUSH needs to be on tv more as his radio audience could be greatly expanded by a regular tv appearance. I wish Hannity/FOX would pay him to do 1/2 hour with Sean once a week for starters.
Of all people Rush cannot think he would gain listeners via moderation. If he did it would destroy his current listenership.
Quite true. The average attention span of an adult human being is between 1 and 5 minutes. This is why many are advised to keep presentations within this time frame.
A thirty minute show with no commercials would put most people to sleep.
I'm not offended, by the way. But clearly Rush is wrong if he believes Marco Rubio doesn't support amnesty.
Their all to busy making big piles of money.
Don’t misunderstand me; making big piles of money is great, but it doesn’t leave a lot of time for other things.
Why should these guys give up multi-million dollar contracts for the salary of a school teacher.
Why should they give up financial independence for themselves and their families; just to deal with millions of brain dead, parasitic, liberal progressives with the attention span of a mayfly? And that doesn’t include the just plain stupid, lazy and worthless bulk of the population.
