What Happened When The Mods Pulled My Post?
About a quart of Gin ^ | April 9 2013 | A Demented Mind

I just spent alot of time posting!

I see that, looks like you hit a small bump.

Pictured: Small Bump

What happened?
Well, someone set up us the bomb?
I'm serious!
Oh, well.. looks like your post got pulled.

Augh! I spent alot of effort on that! How did it happen?!
Couldn't be because you were doing it wrong?
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

What the, how'd you get that video of m-- uh.. I don't even wear that!
Right Skippy. *cough* Well, since you asked, here's how posts get removed.
First, if it is against TOS it gets seen.

Then it gets marked.

Okay, I have that much.
Then the mods gather:

Pictured, mods gathering.

I don't think that's how it looks, I..
Look, do you want an answer or not?
...Yes?
Right, carrying on.
Then they back their vehicle up to your post.

Whoah! What the heck is that thing?!
It's a machine, that eats other machines.
With this:

I don't see what this has to do with my post vanishing, can you tell me wha-
Watch it question boy! I have a flamethrower!

You want to vanish like your dog did?

What the?! No, not Roozer too!
To be fair, your dog WAS drunk.
What?! Who would even... please don't point that flamethrower at me.
Right, and after they saw your post off the entire forum, they set it on fire.

Wait.. that man. His face, and fire! Oh GOD WHY?!
Oh, HIS post was all about his face, so the mods set it on fire.
After that, they used the ashes to open a gate between our world and theirs, like this:

BLECH! That's horrible!
And those tentacles! GAAAH!

If you think that's bad, you should see what happens when the mods get their hands on a bad thread.

Pictured: Mod hands

Oh look, here comes a mod now.
Looks like they want to ask you about that thread you just posted.

Gaaah! Tell them I'm indisposed!

Pictured: Moderator, dunno which one.

Tell them yourself, they're right behind you.

Wait, don't run away!
We haven't gotten to what happens when they edit your thread title!

This concludes our sordid fictional tale.
If you liked that, we have plenty more in the book "Oh the horrible things you'll summon!" rumored to be written by IamnotaMod

TOL, I’m keeping an eye on all your movie reviews. Hubby and I love movies, and we’re always looking for something good to watch. I think we might want to see “Broken City.”

The other night, we watched “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.”

And liked it. (running away....)

The Basic Electric Motor:

A mechanically switched electromagnetic field attached to a shaft, located inside a fixed set of magnetic fields.
As the opposite polarity fields attract this causes the shaft to turn, until the magnets are directly opposite each other.
At this point all motion would end and the attracting fields would merely pull sideways on the shaft, however the field supported by the coil attached to the shaft is turned off by a switch at one end of the shaft.
Inertia causes the shaft to continue to rotate, at this moment in time the switch on the end of the shaft applies and electric supply of the opposite polarity to that which was first applied.
This causes an electro magnetic field to be generated in the coils that is of the same polarity as the fixed magnetic field on the outside ,the result is a powerful repulsive force.
This force causes the shaft to continue to rotate, now away from the fixed field.

The electromagnetic field on the centre coils is now attracted to the opposite polarity field on the next set of fixed magnets on the outside, and so spins the shaft until it once again lines up opposite an attractive opposing field.
The power to the coils on the shaft is once again switched in polarity by the switch at the top of the shaft and now pushes away from the fixed field causing the shaft to continue to rotate.

Switched Magic or controlled attraction to give you traction.
Look up 'Flemings left and right hand rules' for further information.

Goodnight folks.

Napoleon? No, I don’t think so.

However, it does feel like the site is full of malware, and that could be true as I know this group doesn’t have very much money for firewalls. Sigh.

I don't understand where electricity comes in to this.

Or, if I can put my question another way,
Huh?

"I don't understand where electricity comes in to this."

"Or, if I can put my question another way, Huh?"

Electric motors don't work on electricity. They work on magnetic fields.

They could as well, or perhaps better, be called magnetic motors. All of them use magnetic fields in their operation.

Some, (DC motors), use permanent magnets, matched up with electric coils that produce magnetic fields. As described above, the fields are alternately attracted and repulsed by the permanent magnetic fields to produce motion.

Other types of motors have been developed, too. Some motors use only electric coils that are designed to oppose each other. They don't require magnets.

Motors can be opened up and spread along a track, with the electrical connections following along to create linear motion. These linear induction motors are what propel magnetic levitation trains. In that case, we use magnetic fields to lift the trains, and other magnetic fields to pull and push them along their way.

The Movie Reviews

"Silver Linings Playbook" with Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver, Chris
Tucker, Julia Stiles, John Ortiz, Shea Whigham

2012, Rated R for language, sexual content, and nudity, 122 minutes

A man (Cooper) is released after he has spent four years in an asylum for attacking his wife's lover after
walking in on them showering together. He is bipolar, and he loses control of himself at inopportune times.
His wife has a restraining order and still fears him, but he is convinced that she still loves him and wants to
get back together. He meets a woman as damaged as he is (Lawrence), and he thinks that by helping her
with her project, entering a dance contest, he will show his estranged wife that he is all right. But the best
laid plans often go awry. It was a bit difficult to watch in the first scenes, but it got better, and we gave it
  ★★★★

"Red Faction: Origins" with Robert Patrick, Tamzin Merchant, Brian J. Smith, Kate Vernon, Sarah Brown,
Danielle Nicolet, Devon Graye, Gordon Kennedy, Gareth David-Lloyd, Tamer Hassan

2011, Not Rated, 93 minutes

Based on a video game, this story about the colonists on Mars who after 300 years of Earth oppression,
finally achieve their independence. But there are three factions, none of which trusts the other two, and one
of them attempts to trick the others to fight and kill each other off. It is presented as an interesting story
about the lives of the characters, and while it wasn't Shakespeare, it wasn't all that hard on the eyes. We
gave it   ★★★

Personal I would rather drink lukewarm tap water than a Sprite but if I have time to complain about it I am having a good day.

I could not find the dying man in desert refusing wrong drink so I posted this instead.

I didn’t know that the movie “O Brother, Where Art Thou? “ was kinda based on Homer’s Odyssey?

Well that is kind of odd you see. See?

As Bob so beautifully put it:
Electric motors don't work on electricity. They work on magnetic fields.

Electricity moving through a wire creates a magnetic field around the outside of the conductor in a circular pattern.
Much like the rings in a tree trunk.
If the wire is wound around and around a frame to form a coil, the Armature is born.
All of the magnetic 'Flux' rings (lines) now work together to form one large electromagnet.
The Polarity of the electrical feed is switched as the Armature rotates, this is done by the 'Commutator' mounted on the end of the Armature frame.
This switchs the magnetic polarity of the electromagnet on the Armature.(North to South or S-N)
The switching of the magnetic polarity on the Armature windings ensures a transition from magnetic attraction(North-South) to the 'Field' magnets to a state of magnetic repulsion (N-N,S-S), as the Armature coil passes over the 'Field' magnet.
This causes a flicking action to take place and keeps the Armature rotating in the direction of the next 'Field' magnet, to which the Armature coil is now polarised to be attracted to.
Again as stated by Bob: The repulsive force is often used in place of, as well as with, the attraction force.[my wording]

The Electricity is the entity that creates the magnetic fields from which we utilise the attractive(N-s) and repulsive(N-N,S-S) properties of in order to create a rotary (or linear) motion.

The field coils can also be in the form of electromagnets and often are, in larger motors.
