There are a lot of lousy musicians that are a lot more popular than they deserve, but in you opinion, who are the three most over rated musicians (or groups) of all time?
I couldn't stand Geddy's catarwauling on the early albums, but by "Permanent Waves", he pretty much abandoned that way of singing, and they are top-notch musicians.
Jimmy Buffet
Willie Nelson
Springsteen
Don Henley must die!
Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits breakin’ it down, keepin’ it real, and reelin’ it in! Definitely not overrated. Hey Bieber, you little shit, this is how a man does it. Ditto, all you misogynistic scumbag rappers who can’t play an instrument. A pox on you all.

I once heard that in his 1960's recordings, Frank Sinatra would always record with his instrumentalists rather than making a vocal track and then mixing it with an instrumental track, as many recording artists did.
I had never before heard Matt Monro's "Softly as I Leave You" (1962). That song didn't chart in the US.
I also had never before heard the Patsy Cline opus until you posted it. Her voice was quite unique.
Rush
Boston
Jimmy Buffett
They actually SING???
Don’t let him get back together with Glenn Frey!
Speaking of whom, there’s an acquaintence of mine who claims she slept with Glenn Frey once. My question is, if she looked back then like she does now, just how wasted was he?
I beg to differ. I consider voice to be the original God given instrument to humanity. Everyone has one, and it's my favorite of all.
That said, just like any instrument, it needs to be well played to be pleasing to the ear.
1. Any rap “artist”.
2. Any boy band.
3. Any female singer whose songs sound like vocal exercises.
Frey back in the day probably consumed more weed than any other musician, but he really cleaned up his act in the 80s.
And yet missed Willie Nelson.
166 posts and no one has asked “overrated by who?”? The public? The industry? The critics?
The public overrates everything that’s on top of the charts. There are of course exceptions.
The industry overrates what it thinks it can sell to the public.
The critics have their own reasons, and some of them are unfortunately politics, namely politics of white guilt, which is how so many black and brown performers are overrated.
You're both heathens... Though I'll agree with you as far as post PF Roger Waters goes... Stinking socialist hypocrite!

To me, Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson have something in common. I like their music best when they’re not the ones performing it.
I still have yet to find anyone who will actually admit to liking Nickleback, so who is buying their albums?
13 year old boys.
A good guitarist no doubt. There are lots of them though. Seems full of himself which I don’t like
