Finally, after years of dreaming, we've finally moving from New Yorkistan to America (the outskirts of Atlanta, to be exactly)! I accepted the transfer offer today, for a position that I really wanted & I'm pretty sure I'm going to love. And to all the Georgia residents out there, I solemnly swear that we will not mess up your state. We're moving to Georgia because we like what it is, not because we want to change it.
Having been raised in captivity, I'm thinking it may take us a while to adapt to the wild (AKA freedom). But I'm positive that we're going to love it!!!
Once we're down there, I'm switching my username to "EscapedFromNY".
LOL,first question to be asked will be,”Where are you from?”
I plan to tell people I’m a political refuge (which is the truth). I’ll be working 20 miles NE of Atlanta, and I have no need to go into the city itself unless I choose to do so (kind of like my current relationship with NYC, except in Atlanta, I’ll be able to drink a big gulp. While carrying.)
I know quite a few people at our Atlanta location already, and I’ve visited the area a few times over the years. I had a choice between Tampa & Atlanta, and I went with my gut - the people I know from Atlanta are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Great people, my husband loves grits, I love biscuits, and I’m determined to learn to slow my pace down & smell the roses. I know the traffic is like the 7th circle of hell, so I plan to choose my home carefully. I also know that some areas have serious crime issues, so I’m going to be careful to select a neighborhood with a lower crime rate, surrounded by neighborhoods with lower crime rates (to slow down the creep). Where I live on Long Island, I have MS13 gang members living down the street from me. So I think I’m good....
As soon as you get your new drivers license go down to the local probate judge’s office and pay them a few dollars (it used to be $12) and get you concealed carry license.
They have to give it to you.
>>BTW do you go to the new church on 16
Which one?
Congratulations on moving to the South, but Atlanta is no longer the great city as in the past. Arlanta is high majority black, but the total population of the city is barely over 500,000.
My parents grew up in Atlanta, but that was many years ago.
I assume that you will live in one of the suburban cities
that surround Atlanta.
Yep! And then they’ll be invited to church. ;-)
Good luck and best wishes on your move.
Godspeed
you know the saying about a yankee and a damn yankee? LOL
Hey Dixie boy get yourself home, the south awaits with open arms.
Here is one damn damn damn yankee who needs to go home
We had a mixed couple, man black and white women from NY move here a few months ago.
Only black guy in the neighborhood and we are over 90% white in this county.
He moves here and sees me and others driving past his house, as he never works ,
As I and others drive by he sees confederate flags on the plates or stickers.
Hes renting the first house in the neighborhood.
He has called the cops on a few people and now on me and I got a visit from the cops the other day.
Seems the guy thinks people are doing racial harassment because we drive by his house to get in the neighborhood and we have confederate stickers or plates on.
After the last few calls the cops told him to knock it off and that he;s wasting police time and that we have a right to drive on a public road as we need to get to our own houses.
Now he is one damn race baiting yankee who needs to go home
The new ish Catholic church on the west bound land before I-95.
Do you know that church?
The Atlanta area is like our Cary here in NC. It’s where we colonize the Yankees to keep them away from the real South.
Welcome to southern hospitalitygood people down here; youll appreciate it.
But, be advisedwe Southerners expect people to keep their promises.
I couldn't have said it better myself. We won't hold being from the wrong side of the Mason Dixon line against the refugees and will welcome them warmly..........but, there's rules!!!
Congratulations on getting out of there.
I’m in Virginia, but we could use more Yankees who think like you. :)
Georgia will take true conservatives no matter where they are from.
You forgot ‘shugah’, hon. ;-)
There is a whole new world out there for you and your family. You’re going to love it!
