Gun deaths in the U.S. are divided by race with white people more likely to commit suicide with a firearm while an African-American individual is more likely to be shot and killed by someone else.
A white person is five times as likely to kill themselves with a gun than be shot by another person, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
However for each African-American who commits suicide, five others are shot dead by another.
Gun deaths in American cities are more likely to be murders whereas predominantly gun deaths in rural areas are suicides.
The African-American community are stronger supporters of stricter gun control policy than the white population.

Something about this study is unsettling. I predict/suspect/respect/prespect that this finding will be nullified. This is suicide contrasted with murder, apples & oranges.
Mebbe, mebbe not. The thing that caught my eye, was the spin on the information.
Using the data to hand, the reporters could just have easily put up a headline that said: "Blacks 5.5 Times More Likely To Die Of Gun Homicide Than Whites"
They wouldn't have to say that they're comparing two entirely different stats, just as they didn't with the published headline. It's all about their political agenda.
We need to ban high capacity magazines to cut the rate of suicide.
And, blacks are five times more likely to kill whites than the other way round.
I don't know the exact figures, but I won't argue with you. We're living in a Brave New World.
Please don't give the gun grabbers any more ideas :-)
From the numbers posted, 75/27 = about 3, not 5.5
So even from a statistical viewpoint, whites would only be 3x more likely to commit suicide by gun than Blacks.
Meanwhile, 151/15 = about 10
Blacks are 10x more likely to cause gun deaths than whites.

Well, of course. Obama’s people are hardwired to kill whitey with guns, not themselves.
Why no mention of who is doing the majority of the murdering of blacks and whites? Any more, the only way to read a story is by filling in the blanks.
Well I don’t know about this before Obama was elected, but after, I completely believe it.
Kind of flips this “Self Esteem” argument on its head if whites are three times as likely to kill themselves, versus blacks.
Maybe blacks kids are capable, after all, of handling someone telling them that they are WRONG when they add 2+2 and get 5.
One interesting stat: The white firearm-related homicide rate, at 1.5 per 100,000, is roughly the same as the overall homicide rate in Western Europe. Undoubtedly its probably around 2.0 if you add in all causes, but it clearly proves something that we’ve been saying for years: there’s no real ‘gun violence’ problem throughout most of the country.
It would also be interesting to know what the AGE of greatest percentage of white suicides was. My guess would be it is elderly people with terminal diseases.
This issue was first raised in the Washington Post. And rather than go into detail on the obvious issue of black gun deaths, the paper went on at length to talk about suicide.

I dont have any hard data on that but I stongly suspect it to be absolutly true and considering blacks make up a minority of the population in this country makes it all the more stunning.
Putting aside the fact that “gun deaths” is a completely pointless statistic, comparing suicides and homicides is disingenuous as well. The causes and pathology of each are completely different, so it’s completely pointless.
But the left still uses suicide to argue for their tyranny. I heard a lib on the radio the other week who was confronted with the fact that Japan has a suicide rate that’s twice as high as ours. His response? “Well if they had guns it would be even higher than that!”
More likely a lot of younguns. You will hear more about teen and twenty something year olds suicides than the elderly. After all the elderly are old for a reason.
The homo culture is responsible for a lot of the younger generation deaths. The military suicide rates have skyrocketed in the last couple of years and they are still scrambling to find out why.
