Uncomfortable seats and sky-high airline fees are among the top complaints among air travel passengers, according to the results of a consumer survey.
In TripAdvisors annual air travel poll, in addition to limited legroom and exorbitant ticket prices, 2,000 respondents in the US also named unpredictable flight delays, long security lines and other passengers -- notably loud, crying children -- the top five pet peeves about air travel. The survey also found that more US passengers will be flying the global skies this year, with 67 percent of respondents indicating they plan to take an international flight this year, compared to 56 percent in 2012.
The same is true of domestic fights, with 91 percent of respondents saying they plan to board a flight within the US -- up from 86 percent last year.

My Pet Peeves:
1. TSA
2. No leg room
3. Charge for Bags
4. Did I say TSA
I now refuse to take a plane to anywhere in the USA. If I cant drive there, I wont go there. I will take a plane to Europe, but only because I can’t swim that far. Yes, Retirement is Outstanding!!!!
This has been going on well before baggage fees. Why they don't strictly enforce maximum carry-on sizes for efficiency in boarding is beyond me.
I never understood the whole aisle seating thing.
Yes, you can get the to the restroom easier, but being bumped by flight attendants, their carts and anyone else who has to use the head is definitely more of a hassle than sitting by the window.
In my opinion anyway...
Miami International Airport, nuff said.
Do you have a link for that? I would surely like to print out that AMA advisory and show it to my wife on those necessary occasions.
THAT ! !
If you feel the need to recline all the way back onto my kneecaps then don’t you dare turn around to bitch at me because your seat back is frequently jostled.
I’ll share the arm rest. Lets both acknowledge one another’s need to have a comfortable spot to rest an elbow for half of the flight.
As your row mate sitting next to you, you’ll notice I sit still and resist the urge to constantly squirm around and fiddle about so as not to bother you. Kindly return the favor.
Baby’s scream after the door is closed and when beginning the decent because the air pressure charges within the fuselage and that in their inner ears isn’t equalized. it’s excruciatingly painful as I experienced on one flight, except it happened it within my sinus cavity due to a cold. Adults know to yawn or chew gum to help equalize the pressure buildup within the ear canal. A pacifier or bottle for the very young flier works wonders to alleviate the problem. Use one..
Last nine years I have done a lot of flying. It varies from year to year. Some years ten legs, some years 70.
85% on Southwest. Kansas City, Midway, Phoenix, Sacramento, Las Vegas, Denver.
I was also flying during the 9/11 period. I saw the adjustments and the missteps.
I am 6’1’, 220 lbs, size 48 long. I always get an aisle seat but try to sit toward the front and get any coat off and stowed. I see a lot of people that make it hard on themselves. To much carryon, bringing food that is too aromatic and a bother to others, unreasonable expectations as to the flying experience and boarding.
I have had luggage delayed, been blown off runways, blown a tire when landing, been snowed into the airport, missed flights a couple of times only, been soaked to the bone trying to catch a cab and then set drenched on the plane, and had two near miss incidents.
I don’t have a problem flying. I bring a good book, keep a good atitude and try and help others and it makes all the difference. Probably about 700 flights in the last 15 years overall — its the attitude and the spirit of being helpful and kind.
On the last flight my wife and I were sitting behind two morons who decided to fully recline their sits during the meal service. I hate long flights. I wish there was an oceanic railroad.
There are people that fly simply to gain miles. www.Flyertalk.com
They might fly to Singapore just for a night.
I could NEVER do it.
I'll heartily second that. My wife and I have gone over the West and parts of Canada in the last eleven years. Reach 62 and you can buy a lifetime National Parks pass. Some people drive to get to some place. We drive to see the sights while getting to some place. Many times the getting there is more fun than the arrival. But we do love the Nat Parks and monuments.
For me it’s the undersized wings on the airplanes. Every time I fly I look at those wings and say to myself “no way they can produce enough lift to get this tube off the ground”.
I would prefer they went back to biplanes (plus, I’m not too comfortable with jet engines).
Why would they do that? Are the miles really worth it, especially these days?
Re your post 15, that’s me. I, too, have seen a number of foreign countries (mostly those in Europe), and I have no desire to see any more. I am retired and am seeing the USA in my car.
I last flew in October 2000 and absolutely will not support the airline industry, which seems to have no problem with the TSA. Lowlifes.
here is a wild one...
flying to Hawaii BACK TO BACK

I have used that site to get fantastic deals on airfares - but I can’t do those crazy mileage runs
Doesn’t bother us...we like the leg room, and having one side free of another persons body...most of the time...
Crack em if you got em.
Can we use that for an early December Honolulu flight from west coast???
