Yep, I'm leaving the GOP and joining the Democrat Party. Why? I figure I can do more good by being a Democrat and helping their party swing more to the conservative side and away from the radical leftist side that has taken them over. Now I will be able to go to their caucus, vote against the leftist candidates, ask embarrasing questions about their ideas and the Constition, remind them the country is broke, and help them to send candidates with no chance of being elected as their choice. In addition, I will get them to waste their campaign funds on sending me junk mail, waste their time by calling me, and I get a chance to chew on any Democrat cadidate who calls me asking for my vote. What the heck, I figure I am doing the country a favor by helping to nullify the leftists control. Thoughts?

Better get a lobotomy or you won’t fit in. Course your plan of action leads me to believe that maybe the lobotomy would be overkill.

Bring plenty of lubricant. You’ll have enough left over from the GOP for sure.

I have cancer. If/when it gets to the stage that I know the end is near, I also am going to change my party registration to Democrat. If there’s going to be somebody dying, I’d rather it would be one of them.

“Registering” as regards a party in today’s political environment is just plain dumb.

The only thing that registering gets you is constant and irritating requests for YOUR money from people you don’t want in elected office.

Don’t feed the beast...de-register completely regarding “party”.

At the very least, it would de-legitimize the corrupt kabuki theater we call “The Primaries”!

at least if you are in a blue state, your congress critters will answer your mail, as they (or their staff strap hangers who actually handle the calls and mail) consider you a “voter” unlike if you are a registered Republican

Personally - “independents” get a lot less junk mail and some elected reps MIGHT think they dont have your vote in the can no matter WTH they do

I understand how you feel as the similarities between the two major political parties are striking. Yet, one party is far more clever politically than the other, hence they remain in power.

Attempting to change either party (at this point) is a huge challenge as the disconnect between government and the electorate is as great as I’ve ever seen.

I continue to hear the argument (strongly supported by the establishment) that a third party is hopeless. But, I continue to wonder if a third party isn’t now an easier path to representation than attempting to change either the existing Democrat or Republican parties.

Quite honestly I have been mulling over the idea of registering as Independent just to shift the polling numbers into the grey.

I am Conservative through and through, but why let them pigeon hole you?

Keep the opposition guessing. That is a valid tactic.

Conversely, it weakens Conservative polling numbers

PS Oh, and liberal chicks are easy.

My parents were like this. They are distinctly conservative, but vote democrat. They figured that they could “change the party,” but it’s only gotten worse. They’re coming around to my views, but I can’t offer them much when my party is a bunch of bungling RINO’s.

There is some truth in what you say. If you are activist in party politics you may have an impact.

However, be ready for the smell that shall assault your nostrils when you attend a party function-BAD AIR!

I will tell you this brother.
It’s a long slog, but just getting into the camp can be beneficial and it can influence them.

You have to get in a position to gain an ear.
You have to be patient.
Don’t show your cards to quickly or they will just roll you.

Thinking about this and reading the thread gave me a sense of the thoughts of being one, doing as one, and succeeding as one. It might work. It could work. Most persons attempting would, and am in agreement with kevslisababy, it would drive a sane person nuts. If one (would not recommend mass migration for the masses) may hold onto their sanity, perhaps much could be achieved. Slightest glimmer of insanity or belief in what the democRATs actually stand for and one should HEAD FOR THE HILLS, is my humble recommendation.
