I thought I would let all my Gardening and FReeper Friends know that one of my best Friends, Cashmere - Irish Setter 12 years old, passed away yesterday. She had stopped eating and after not eating for three days we took her to the vet. Blood tests determined she had acute Kennedy failure. He told us he could keep her alive for a few days at most. So my wife and I made a very, very difficult decision and we let her go to a Better Place. A sad, sad day but I know her Brother Aladdin, who we lost last year, met her at the gates. I will miss her companionship dearly.
Hugs (((Red))) . . . it’s hard losing a friend.
When they took x-rays they discovered he had been carrying around about 30 shotgun pellets for many years (long before he came to live with me).
Sorry to hear about your loss. It is so painful to lose these wonderful companions. I hope your happy memories will comfort you during this sad time.
My wife and I have had to do that with a couple of our Siamese boys after 15-20 years...hate it. Hate it more than anything...sorry that they are both gone now, Red. (Missed seeing this post last week...busy starting seeds.)
My condolences RD. We had to make the same choice for Dolly back in October for the very same symptoms. The vet who came to the house had a little prayer with her and we said ours and Dolly was gone... but her spirt lives on.
