Long weekend for me. Here’s the latest.
She seems to have full feeling in her legs (and some pain). She’s not fully ambulatory yet. I think the hospital is working on getting her ready to go home and continue on with her life.
There is still no diagnosis. I’m told she is the third such case the hospital has seen and they have no answers on any of them. My SIL is an MD and thinks it is/was a virus. In any case, as long as it doesn’t recur, I’ll accept just getting her strong enough to go home.
On the mom front, I visited yesterday evening for about an hour. Her mom slept through and never knew I was there. I call that a good thing - she needed the sleep.
Thanks again for all your prayers.

The good news is the mother has a diagnosis. The bad news is I don’t think she gave it to me right as I couldn’t find the words in the medical dictionary. I think the most likely match is idiotropic paresthesia, which doesn’t have it’s own entry but both of those words does have a meaning. It would suggest that her nervous system sort of turned in on itself for a short period of time. Now that that part is over, she just needs PT to get back to normal.
If I’m right, I think of it as sort of a spasm of the CNS.
When I get those they result in really strange ideas, so I guess my form is mild (unless I act on them).
Thanks again for all your prayers. I think this will end the daily updates. I’ll update when she’s out of the hospital or if I get any other significant news.
