Gun confiscation: How will it start?

Posted on 01/02/2013 4:03:29 PM PST by rustyboots

With all the recent talk about gun control, the high level of ammo/firearm purchasing and the just demonstrated lack of GOP gonads on fiscal matters, I started to wonder just how fast they would roll over for DiFi? But I guess the real question would be; If Difi got her wish on her new bill, how would they start if millions resisted? Would the government realize that there wasn't going to be a cheerful obedience to the new law and just let millions get away with this resistance? If there decided to go after gun owners who refused to register, how would they do it? Do they do massive overnight raids on FFL dealers/gun stores? Do they do the midnight raids on the common man? And then where do they start? What would happen if they raided 50 different locations in Texas versus raiding 50 different places in Kansas? Will we see resistance then? Of if successful, will the rest of America just bend over and grab their ankles? Just curious what many of you think? After 57 years, I am beginning to fear my government.... and many of the citizens of this great country.

“Credit Card checks for gun releated purchases?”

Mastercard, et al, would spread their legs for the feral gov’t in a new york bloomberg minute.

I needed a copy of my statement from 2008 earlier last year. It was still there, and it was gun related.

I have no idea how it would start. I do, however, know how it will end.

Cocaine and weed is contraband in this country, does ANYONE believe it isn’t available in every city and town? All those drug laws sure have shut down drug use, drug trade, and drug ownership.

Then it would be time to start counting coup, in a medieval way.

The first step will be Ubama throwing the Internet off-switch.

When that happens, you'll know it's because the pogrom has begun.

A couple of comments in reply:
1. I have had a functional pair for a long time(and still do). And a functional mind to go with them.
2. This thread was started as a discussion into a
possibility, not a certain fact. Those that deny the
possibility of anything seldom contribute anything
worthwhile to any discussion.
Have nice evening.

“Not that they would monitor Freerepublic.”

“They” already monitor Free Republic. Several years ago a poster jokingly make a comment about the president. A few hours later the Secret Service was knocking on his door because his post was a ‘preceived threat’ to the president. This was while Bush was still in the White House.

It started already with permits.

Question for everyone, thoughtful responses, please:

Since the main issue here seems to be about how many gun owners will or will not defy government gun confiscation, then

“How important to this issue is the state in you happen to live?”

Hint: I’m glad I don’t live in Illinois or New York.

Texans won’t tolerate confiscation. Rest assured.

I’m not sure I understand your question. I don’t think confiscation would happen in Texas, as there is no “gun permit” here in Texas (except for fully auto, etc.) But, on the other hand, Texas would be one of the hardest states to pull off confiscation. As such, they might try to do Texas first just to see if it would work in the other 49.

I suggest everyone take a deep breath relax and read Unintended Consequences by John Ross. Its a fictional look at overcoming tyranny, but it shows how one could fight back.

They can’t do it anyway. False tips leading them to vacated premises loaded with explosives, ambushes, vehicles firebombed, etc etc.. if the left starts this, there will be hell to pay.

There will be difficulties:

- A NICS check doesn’t speak to the gun purchased, nor how many. Those are in the records the BATF requires gun shops to keep. Some are electronic, but many are handwritten or typed and spread across myriad sellers. Easy to look at records of say Walmart, but not Joe’s Pawn Shop.

- there are millions of guns purchased privately or pre-NICS that can’t be tracked.

- There will be numerous deceased, moved, and of course the old ‘aww man, I got rid of those a couple of years back’. They will HAVE to go door-to-door to verify those guns are gone, and guns can be hidden easily off site.

- checking records and going door-to-door will require a huge amount of manpower and will not be low profile. People will know they’re coming and do things to destroy/hide/move ahead of time, including gun sales records.

- there will be court challenges. Putting the law out there to get slapped down will make it even harder to pass one the next time.

Obama, Finestein, and the rest of the NeoCommunists have no expectation that gun owners will actually turn in their guns. They intend to make examples of a chosen few to intimidate and terrorize the rest into obedience and silence. Most legit gun owners tend to be conservative, and actually support the Constitution. Step out of line, speak up publicly, support the wrong candidates, defend yourself against one of their criminals — and gun owners will be investigated, pronounced worse than Hitler in the govt media, dispossessed, imprisoned, or simply murdered. They desire to gradually disarm the populace, destroy private savings and property, and establish arbitrary rule.

What sort of person wants Stalinism? We all know, but hate to admit it.

Then there are all those “illegal” weapons out there; they can be recruited into the resistance, strange bedfellows.

That's what the lawyers call a "chilling effect" on the exercise of Constitutional rights; screw 'em. I'll be going to the range in a few days to exercise my God given right to keep and bear arms. Damn the Congress. The bastards may have the power to disarm the citizens, but they certainly do not have the authority. If the Repubos roll over for a confiscation, even in light of the Heller and MacDonald USSC decisions, the Constituion is dissolved and we are no longer bound to obey any laws.

I think in Texas, they will have to deal with the State of Texas if they try anything against any citizen in Texas. We’ve got good history on exactly this. Damn little difference if its a pompus messkin or a tyrannical kenyan.
