All leftists invest heavily in Iran, even though theoretically this is forbidden to American citizens and, again theoretically, our banking and security entities spend a lot of time looking for shell companies or strange investment conduits. But all of the leftist governments of Latin America invest in Iran (illegally, but they get away with it through companies they have seized and transformed into state companies, etc.) and I’m sure US leftists also have their ways of channeling money to Iran.
In return for which, Iran gives them big bucks...
