We are currently caught in a national debate which in my opinion misses the very (most) important aspect.
We are currently debating between conservatives, and liberals.
Conservatives are determined to maximise profits.
Liberals are determined to maximise unions.
Both of those are wrong goals. What we need as a nation, are maximum profits which benefit America.
America is what is not looked at.
America.
Oh goody. Another Fascist shows his true stripes. I love when faux conservatives unmask themselves.
Between the increased cost and regulatory burden and the possibility of forced unionization, asking US companies to bring their factories back here may be tantamount to asking the to put a gun to their head.
Are you crazy. The best thing businesses can do is get the hell out of this Country. Most business cannot survive in this communists climate of tax and regulating them out of normal profits to keep their business running.
Unfortunately now more and more big business is in bed with the government.
The way to get businesses back to the US is by creating a business-friendly climate of minimum regulation, low tax rates ( which actually result in increased revenue), tort reform, and enforcing international trade agreements.
Wouldn’t be surprise did they (government) try the “if you build it they will come” mentality. I can see them try to build facilities that don’t quite meet end user spec. Just like the “we can educate our way out of this”. No, grads move to states/countries with jobs. Likewise, they’ll move/leave their factories to better environs.
We aren’t in any national debate. Obama runs things and really soon there will be even more regulations and expenses for a company to operate. Obama created 7000 new regs to take effect.
What you will see is a decline in American business. Small ones will go away and the big ones will locate in more favorable places.
We won’t do anything about China because they own our debt.
They will be hurt the poorer we become. We won’t be buying as much.
So, that really sets up a very dangerous conclusion.
I know you mean well, but it is naive to think that Obama is going to do what you want, NOW
Its important for all Americans to understand that happiness is about our ability to thrive financially, not legalized marijuana, etc.
And we are supposed to be guaranteed the right to PERSUE happiness, not the "right" to have it handed to us for free at the expense of the "evil" rich guy.
Boy, you know how to parrot that schitck perfectly.
With a median household income that has been actually declining over the last 10+ years. there’s been not only no increasing standard of living for Americans under the current “free trade” pablum, the standard of living is going down.
Trade with the PRC isn’t “free trade.” They pillage our intellectual property, use currency arbitrage to maintain their trade advantage and flout product standards. This isn’t “free trade.”
Do you really want a low-tech soldering job? What the we need to do is get the USA back to number #1 in the world in mathematics and hard science.
I disagree.
We can do a (lot) about China and nobody dares mention it.
China sells only. China does not buy.
I say reverse that. Stop buying and stop importing from China. Just stop.
End it all, then give China an opportunity to start over.
What we are doing now will destroy America.
And not too long from now.
Sieg Heil, mein Fuhrer , can I have a job building the wall around the USSA?
“We need an America-first policy.
Now.”
I agree wholeheartedly with everything you wrote, but...
It just ain’t gonna happen.
Remember NAFTA?
Remember when guys like Perot and Pat Buchanan spoke out against it?
Remember when they were called troglodytes and worse by the majority of “conservatives” who supported the notion of “free trade”?
Especially here on FR?
Remember all these things? I do.
Two quotes for you:
“Reality is what it is. It is not what we believe it to be.”
“We can evade reality. What we cannot evade are the consequences of evading reality.”
By de-industrializing America, those in power evaded the reality that a nation that no longer makes things, but only consumes, will not long sustain itself. We are seeing the consequences of their “evasion” now.
But the reality (that is what it is) is that the chances of reversing this now are all-but impossible. Certainly, politically impossible, given the “new voter realities” that we saw revealed last Tuesday...
I wish things things weren’t so.
But wishing won’t change them.
I am bold enough to look at reality in its face.
And that’s what I see...
Effort to change the subject noted.
Great post. The deluded will continue to claim the GOP lost because of some fraud. Others spin that we are a handout nation. Screw that - people want work. Look at what you buy, see where it is made and you will see why we have unemployment.
For that, the voters did not blame Obama but blamed the fleece traders who robbed Americans of jobs for their own money gains. Restore American manufacturing and restore America and bring back the Help Desk while we are at it.

Paging Wesley Mouch, please pick up the nearest courtesy phone! :)
Not one little bit.
The kind of companies that use a lot of labor are going overseas simply because the government has made it the government's business every little detail of how manufacturers operate.
From where they can drill for oil, how they hire and fire, how they paint yellow lines on their factory floor, how they construct their power plants, what they use for fuel, and the worst of all: obumblercare.
Add to that the outrageous rules as to how vehicles will be built, how much fuel they use, where timber can be cut, how rain water is to run down the gutters, on and on and on.
And then we have a tax problem.
The Chinese are not stealing our manufacturing. The US government has run them to China, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, etc.
The rinos have been as guilty as the libs because they fell for the compassionate conservative crap.
The idea that the government can cure the problem is absolutely insane.
Just look at social security. Absolutely the most mismanaged and at the same time the easiest of all government operations to run.
SS is nothing more than an annuity. Handled as any major insurance company or trust fund would have, it would be loaded with cash.
But the district of corruption stole the money and now are forced to operate on daily receipts.
The Post Office is another shining example of the ability of government to run a business.
The most junior second rate VP at FedEx could take over the post office and turn it into a profit center.
But the economics illiterates in congress would never allow anyone to make the needed changes.
Get rid of the Marxists in the EPA and other similar agencies and industry would rush back to the US.
Exactly. If you can acquire enough expensive material goods, it will make you completely forget about the stormtrooper's boot on your neck.
You think China is just going to sit back and take that? Do you want them to call in our debt?
America is so damn rich, we will say. Heres the money including interest, now go away. Right?
They already own a huge portion of America, like land and stuff.
This is the danger of having a broke and broken country.
Jobs are moving overseas for a reason - high taxes here, legal liability here, crushing legal requirements here. Unless you fix those - and we are not- no jobs are coming back.
