Northeast FReepers who were affected by Sandy, please check in here when/if you have power to let us know your status. Tell us what, if anything, you need so we can organize help or get help to you. If you can, share your story with us. Tell us how you weathered the storm, what the condition is of your house or property, loved ones, pets, neighbors, etc.
You're in our thoughts and prayers. If we can help in any way, let us know!
Love you. Carry my seashell with me every day. :)
Although a NYer, I know live in Maryland, but was in upstate NY on Monday, driving from west of Elmira to Ithaca on Monday. Very windy, and raining like heck. I was in a gig Chevy Traverse and even IT got blown around a bit. Once I got to Ithaca, things calmed down. Wife back in southern Maryland lost power for ten hours, no biggie. Son in NYC (NYPD) lives uptown, so he did not lose power; but, he sure worked a lot. Daughter in northern NJ STILL without power. Niece in Westchester County, NY also without power. She texted us this morning excited that the local Starbucks was open. Sheesh...and Bloomberg is having a marathon. What an idjyot.
Thanks for your caring...nothing better than Freepers! Have a great weekend...

(Note: NE FReepers whove checked in posts #173 - #202.)
BuckeyeTexan, we are doing well in Central New York.
Ha ha, thanks. I suppose I could sit around, complain, demand FEMA money and blame global warming, but acting like a grown-up is more fulfilling.
You have some valuable wood to sell there.
Black walnut goes for a lot of money and I’ll bet the cherry does, too.

There are options for the fireplace. We actually put a small stove in ours and although it took a fan to effectively spread the heat, it was a small fan that could have run off one of those deep cycle marine batteries for a long time.
It worked out very well, because there were a few times we depended on it for several days.
Pandy sorry to hear you been sick.We will put you on the prayer list.
Haven’t heard anything but I know that they were prepared with wood etc so that won’t be a problem. But injury and/or property damage is a different story.
It snowed briefly about 15 minutes ago, just as my mail lady was bringing a package to the door. That poor woman!
She is quite young and hardy though. Sweet as can be as well.
I’m worried about her and her family as well. I don’t have any contact info for her though. Maybe DJ or Onyx can tell you.
So much for my worthlessness, Laz. My apology.
I think of and pray for you each day as well. [smiles]
June can’t get here fast enough.
Thanks!
Thank you Fatima. I went through some hard times & now going off the meds, I feel worse. Hugs & Prayers!
FYI for anyone near Egg Harbor Township/Atlantic County areas. There are gas stations with gas & no gas lines & the same prices more or less as before the storm. There are food stores with food. Home Depot & Lowes have generators. My friend just came down from Ocean County to stock up on food, gas & buy a generator. I am hearing of looting & shooting in Atlantic City. We don’t leave the farm because I won’t leave the animals. Plus there really is nowhere to go. No sense in wasting gas.
Timing is everything. We sold a rental property and had the closing ten days before the storm. Item number two on our list of priorities for the proceeds was a Generac 12KW standby generator for the house. It runs about $8500 and I didn't want to dip into savings until we had the cushion of the sale proceeds...oh, well.
btw...thank God for kinkos...free wifi and plenty of outlets to charge the laptop and phone. The local store crew has been aces.
