Sorry for the vanity, but I wanted to see if anyone knows of any election night "chat rooms" where folks might congregate to discuss and hopefully pop champagne corks as we watch the election numbers roll in. I'm sure Free Republic will be more than hammered with folks checking in on results and possibly a chat room of some sort might serve to lessen the load a little. 8 years ago, I sat in on a chat on an IRC Server (Dalnet) in a room of Democrats. It was interesting to say the least. They went from full of hope to despair, to denial. Overall, a great evening! Hoping to celebrate with some of my FRiends.
I’ll be on here and Twitter. Don’t know what the hashtag will be yet. Maybe #romneybeatscommie ?
Considering the loading problems Freerepublic will most likely have on election night, I will hang out on the official FR facebook page to see what everyone is saying.

I think FR is a no go. During the three presidential debates, I couldn’t get connected to FR at all.
I’ll be in bible study that night. I don’t think I could bear to watch the returns come in.
Just wake me up when it’s over.
Why don’t we just create an official FreeRepublic twitter hashtag for the election? Then you can just follow that hashtag and see whats going on. Kind of like the TCOT but FR specific...
Might even get someone to move some of the more interesting tweets to the election (not quite) live thread.
I will be in and out of the Facebook page, probably not going to be up all night. My blood pressure is too high already and I can’t take any more pills.
Are we officially on twitter now?
I’m not sure, but anyone can just create a #hashtag on their post and then you can keep a running list of those posts.
For instance, I search #TCOT and see what a bunch of conservative talking-heads are saying. It is not private so you occasionally get the odd liberal butting in but it works pretty well.
If we all decided on an official hashtag and used it election night, you could see what everyone was saying. Might be better than trying to stay on the live thread.
I follow FR on twitter here:@FreeRepublicUSA
