Your prayers are humbly requested for one of our long-time FReepers, Salamander and her new puppy Halla.
Halla is six weeks old and by rights should still be with her mother. Salamander had to take her and rescue her from an incompetent breeder who had let her get worms along with some serious other problems.
The pup was not eating, shaking and may have some neurological damage. The vets have confirmed a cranial injury, but do not yet know how severe.
A moment out of your busy day (or night) to offer up a word to The Lord for both Sal and Halla would be appreciated. Thanks so very much!
Hsssssssssssssssss
LOLOLOL!!!!! Gotcha, Fawnn!
:)
Checking in to hear news on Halla.
How did she handle her first big storm?
She didn’t even care about it.
We just got some heavy rain and that was it.
Her update from her regular vet visit today:
They didnt do the CBC because its too soon and shes thriving, eating and drinking and she got no puppy shots because it would be too hard on her system.
The vet noted some nystagmus which seems to be transient but at first scared her to death and also us.
She noted it when Halla was half asleep but felt better about because it seems to go away when Halla is awake and alert.
Shes concerned about Halla walking drunkenly when tired.
She said to wait on the neuro eval/MRI until Halla is 10 weeks old to see if anything changes in the meantime *and* because the head injury/brain trauma damage is already said and done so she’ll always have the slightly odd shaped skull.
I worry about the nystagmus for fear she feels sick or dizzy when it happens.
I worry about the gait issues in case it never goes away.
I worry about everything, actually.
I wont know the results of her fecal test until Monday because they send it out.
Never heard of that being done but it includes a coccidia test.
Im only halfway to our money needs.
Gonna try and set up a Facebook donation thing in hopes of raising the rest.
Halla seems happy and is becoming a little terror, playing, biting and climbing over us.
The vet said that because shes had no more seizure type events that it doesnt mean she wont ever, again.
That was real discouraging...:(
I dont know what else to do for her in the meantime.
Were loving on her and trying to keep her happy.
It breaks my heart that she might not ever be able to play with her half-brother Odin...or even my other two smaller girls.
I sincerely hate those damn breeders.
Theyve already had animal control and the AKC called on them and they skated out of those by providing minimum requirements for their poor dogs.
[and your envelope came...thank you ~so~ much, ‘Mom’]

Bounding around like a new-born colt! Delightful! Bless you Shari and your menagerie.
That is delightful! Halla really warms the cockles of my heart. Thanks be to God that she is doing so well, and may she be healthy and happy with you for many years, Sal dear.
What a sweet puppy! Sure is full of spunk.
May she have a happy long life.
Thanks Joe.
Your list is so big that I can never see the whole thing in the ‘to’ line.
Bless you for pinging everybody!
How wonderful to see. She is sooooo cute!!!
She’s a loose cannon, alright...LOL
She’s in her unsocialized ‘bite everything in sight’ phase and we need to have her right arm x-rayed to see if the healed elbow fracture is the reason for her limp.
Our vet does x-rays without knocking the dogs out first so I’m not sure how they’re gonna manage little Halla the Handful of Needle Teeth.
;D
