This morning, we had a nice gentleman from the Florida GOP come by our home to greet us and ask if we had any questions about voting (we have a Romney sign in our yard and are registered Republicans). He was visiting all GOPers in the neighborhood and making sure everyone was familiar with voting precincts and offering absentee ballots. I was very impressed with his well-dressed appearance and kind manners. We saw nothing like this in 2008 and were very happy to see it.
Later this afternoon...a young man, probably around 20, came to the door and said he was working for an 'election study.' He asked if he could take our photograph next to our Romney yard sign to be 'published in a book.' My husband thought it was a strange request and said no thanks and closed the door. We thought this was very bizarre. Has anyone else encountered someone asking to do this?
Shoot them! Shoot them now!
They were just getting the GPS coordinates of your house so the black helicopters to find you more easily.
the first guy was lying, I’d be he had nothing to do with the GOP
p.s.
Here’s my election fraud file:

Kudos.

Do you know if he had actual absentee ballots with him? I’m asking, because I thought you had to request those from your county clerk’s office, at least that’s the way it is here.
You are right to suspect something. This smells to me. The lesson is to ask anyone knocking on your door to show ID. Write their name & license number down and tell them you are doing this for your protection since you’ve had some strange people asking uncomfortable political questions.
You must be on the lookout for zombies.
Why not call the FL GOP headquarters and ask about it?
Very impressive.
No, he didn’t have anything with him except a clip board. He seemed very legit to me, just going to people’s homes with Romney signs making sure they were going to vote. I am glad they were doing that. We had no outreach whatsoever in 2008 with McCain.
The guy asking to take our picture was just weird. Who would agree to that?
Or just do as the Spirit moves you.
Left index finger punching into a chest, with right hand hidden behind the back is VERY uncomfortable for some folks. They think you are hiding a firearm.

I fully believe the first man was from the state GOP.
The young guy asking to take our picture was just odd. It’s Game Day here in Tallahassee with FSU. Normally we would not even be home, but our kids have been sick so we weren’t going to the game. He came around 4:00 and the game was at 5:00, so a lot of folks are at the game. He parked his car in front of our house. The whole thing was just strange.
You did the right thing. No way, no how a stranger is going to take a picture of me in my yard next to a political sign. Too many crazies out there.
2nd guy was casing your house to break in.
You are right to be suspicious. Call your local GOP headquarters and tell them what happened and ask if this is something they are sponsoring. If not, just make a report to the police. They won’t do anything, but at least you will have it on record. And who knows if others have had similar experiences that might be on record. Do it while you remember the descriptions of the men who visited you.
You’d be shocked at what people can get away with, provided they “look” legitimate, uniform, and yes, a clipboard.
One classic example was some fellows who pulled up to a 7-11 in a van and some kind of uniforms and said “We’re here to pick up the ATM”. No problem, the clerk even helped them load it up. Just sayin’.
Yeah, the whole thing sounds hinky. Don’t talk to pollsters on the telephone, either imo., ever. Think about this for a minute, how people are genuinely flattered when complete strangers ask intimate personal questions, and then sell this data, etc.
Nutty as hell.
