..
When Management kicks us off, we will all go together. Have no fear...I will hold your hand so we go together! ;o]
I don’t mind this thread, but there was that Zot earlier this month, the Concern Troll goofball. We visited there a bit but obviously decided not to move in.
The family had Papa John’s pizza for supper, but I had leftover beef-vegetable-barley soup. It was good, if I do say so myself. Just like with oatmeal, if you let the barley cook forever, a little bit dry turns into a whole lot in your soup. One small bowl left; maybe I’ll have it for breakfast.
OK, good.
I guess. ;-)
I just mean they might kick us off this thread, and make us find a new one.
But I’ll still hold your hand.
Ummm. You feel satisfied.
I haven’t eaten dinner yet. I like hearty food like that at this time of year.
I had a little bit of bargain beef in the freezer, so I browned it in olive oil, simmered it with garlic and onions for about four hours, then shredded it and added more water, carrots, celery, herbs, and barley. Very tasty and filling, and it cost almost nothing.
Not hardly likely...
We love you, Man! Come back, Shame!
(she sez, tongue-in-cheek)
My passport has been valid since 2004...I will keep it active. We NEED to meet!
It's from our own distillery, which we built during the Original Undead Thread, in order to keep up with demand.
We were also making wine, but interest in that has diminished.
Ditto for the Darks...
I love barley!
We had regular (non-pearled) barley in the pantry, as well as “medium” barley and “quick” barley. The latter two were unopened boxes, so I put one or the other into a box for the food bank collection at church tomorrow, along with a few other duplicates and “Who bought this, and why?” items. There’s still enough non-pearled to make pumpkin-barley soup with my whole collection of canned pumpkin!
We have a lot of “quick grits.” I’ll cook some up tonight or tomorrow and then make it into grits fry-up with syrup for the byos.
I love grits, as well, so I should be cheap to feed while I’m there...barley soup, wine, grits, pretzels, squash, wine, salad, wine, pretzels, wine, pork roast, wine, grits, wine, chocolate chip pie, wine....
Did I leave anything out?
We usually buy standard grits, so I’m not sure why we have two open packages of “quick.” Maybe an emergency when we couldn’t find the real ones.
It may be hard to get butternut squash in the spring. I could cook some and freeze it, but it wouldn’t be the same.
Sounds wonderful TC.
Dittos to you Face.
I’m off for the night.
Sweet dreams.
Have a good night!
Sionnsar was of Scottish heritage, and he was proud of it. he named the vintage, but I can only recall the part of the name: poplan sor....
Sadly, sionnsar passed away 18 months ago, but we do try to keep his memory alive, if nothing else, through his widow, Libre ou Mort.
(See what you have fallen into? We love our FR family!)
I suggest that everyone read more books. Each book is, or should be, a distillation of life's experiences, hopefully experiences that taught a valuable lesson.
Consider "To Kill A Mockingbird", by Harper Lee. It's the only book she ever wrote; perhaps because she felt that it was the only book she had inside her. But by reading it, you can have it inside you!
The most significant and poignant experiences of an entire life, distilled to an evening or two of pleasurable relaxation.
It's well worth the investment in energy or effort to gain access to it.
And that's just one book! There are thousands of books like that! Books that expand your horizons and stretch your mind. You'll be a bigger person for having read more books.
If you've read that one, or care not to read it, okay. Try some of Thomas Cahill's work. "How The Irish Saved Civilization" is an absolutely fascinating read. Who knew that Saint Patrick was a real person?
There are limits, of course, which is where we come to the books I've written. They tend to approach the limits.
They're more for entertainment, anyway, but you would come away from them perplexed and bemused, with much to think about.
And that's what books are for; to make you think, and to put a wistful smile on your face for your friends to wonder about.
Fallen? I wouldn't describe it as fallen.
Sucked in with the power of a black hole's event horizon, but fallen,no.
6 months and all you will see will be x-rays. :)
