FTA: “I was so excited that it just came out”
I can fully understand a little dance “just coming out” at such an event.
I cannot, however, understand how a dance created by gangsters is so internalized that it “just came out.”
At the end of the day...who really cares. Spectator sports, the Olympics, what dances someone does in victory or what precious sensibilities any of these things offend, just aren't that vital to us as a nation. There are more important things to be paying attention to than bread and circuses.
Actually, the dance moves were more than likely choreographed originally or deeply inspired by Paula Abdul (when she was choreographing for the LA Lakers Cheerleaders and Janet Jackson, etc...), or other professional dancers and choreographers that were her contemporaries, or even her teachers - at least that’s who all the young people dancing “back in the day” just before “Hip-Hop” became well-known were ‘copying’ - including all the Hip-Hop, Freestyle, and House dancing “gangsters”.
We could look back even further in the history of dance and find similarities at other times as well - including similarities in regards to people’s attitudes and reactions such as those displayed on this thread.
