Ed Rendell on Fox remarking on the Colorado shooting. The gunman had an "automatic assault weapon that fired a hundred rounds without reloading" and "he only stopped using it when it jammed" and "it was only the cowardice of Congress that allows these assault weapons to be available to the public."
Crazy Ed: just ranting the vote-losing idiocy that Liberals won't say for themselves before an election.
I hear that, but in a dark house while maybe still shaking off some sleepiness, would a little spread be a good thing?
A slug requires a definitive hit....but otoh, any hit would be quite debilitating and shocking to the perp.
A lot to consider for a unique situation, I hope and pray neither you or I have to face it.
I guess the best plan is a general one, loads that take all into account and address them in the best, most effective way in a general scenario.
LOL!!!
Gotta run FRiend, take care....still loling....
Then Ed should step up and disarm his security detail.
Then I’ll listen to him talk about cowardice.

Yes, it is and nor do I.

Being mentally prepared is a big step. Even though you don't want to have to think about it you must.

There is an excuse for an American having a semi-automatic weapon. I want one to protect myself, my family, and anyone else who may need my help in protecting them. And, it’s my right to have one. That’s all the excuse one needs.
Looks a lot like a Mossberg 500 a very good friend of mine has, 12 ga, 20 inch barrel, but with a sling that comes across the belly and around the elbow of the triggering arm to help control and absorb the recoil. Works well with 00 buck and slugs. His preference is to alternate the two. I have fired it numerous times. A perp coming through the front door doesn’t have a chance.
Eighteen years ago I spent a weekend dove hunting with a borrowed 12 ga. I had a very painful shoulder after that weekend. But we went through several boxes of shells. It was definitely an over-dose of 12 ga. Mind you that was my first experience hunting, and before that I had never fired a 12 ga.
Well, Crazy Eddie, I have a couple. Are you crazy enough to come take them.......PERSONALLY??
Thank God you’re no longer the governor of my state. You likely never read the PA state constitution which reads that the right of the people to be armed ‘’shall not be questioned’’.
Of course, ‘’Eddie’’, you’re just another fat, bloated, egotistical politician with soft hands and an expanded view of your own self worth.
‘’Crazy Eddie’’, just STFU and enjoy your cushy retirement on my tax dollars. The less heard from your sorry a$$, the better.

12 Ga Federal Law Enforcement Low Recoil Tactical 00 Buck & Federal Law Enforcement Low Recoil Tactical Slugs are both available and great home defense rounds. These can be had either in Low Recoil or Standard Recoil, but the kick is somewhat more with the Standard shells. The local Sheriff’s Dept has gone to these Low Recoil shells. The punch is still there for home defense or for most law enforcement needs. Muzzle velocity is a couple hundred fps less with the low recoil rounds.
“I hear that, but in a dark house while maybe still shaking off some sleepiness, would a little spread be a good thing?”
Put a light on that shotgun, and maybe a laser. Important you see the target, both for acquisition and for identification (might not be a bad guy). Alternate the slug with 00 and you will get the job done. The laser is an especially good idea for a pistol grip.
And btw, I believe your home defense semi-auto hand gun should have both light and laser. Many already have the mounting rail under the barrel, in front of the trigger.
In low light situations, with either the shotgun or the hand gun, it is essential that you be able to identifiy the target BEFORE you pull the trigger.
Look at your choice of words. You've stepped into the gun control activist's trap without even realizing it.
There is a reason for an American having a semi-automatic weapon.
Your usage of his words gives his argument more merit.
Not ragging, just observing.
“Did anyone even bother to show you the proper stance or tell you what to expect as far as recoil?”
Yes, I was hunting with the friend who loaned me the shotgun. He went through it all with me. He was well experienced. I was okay after the first day. The second day did my shoulder in...
You just have to love technology...
