Ed Rendell on Fox remarking on the Colorado shooting. The gunman had an "automatic assault weapon that fired a hundred rounds without reloading" and "he only stopped using it when it jammed" and "it was only the cowardice of Congress that allows these assault weapons to be available to the public."
Crazy Ed: just ranting the vote-losing idiocy that Liberals won't say for themselves before an election.
I offer no excuses. I have “several”.
Thanks...that would be a great excuse to give to the cops after they show up.....I can't hear you....I want a lawyer please.
What Sgt. Shultz and Co. really want is take away the right to own ANY gun, not just semi-autos.
The phony ‘outrage’ over ownership of high-powered guns is a ploy to focus attention away from what these idiots really desire - a total ban on all privately-owned firearms.
Liberals like Ed are my reason for having semi-automatic rifles. They want to disarm this country for a reason and it has nothing to do with Aurora or Columbine or Virginia Tech.
Not supposed to load more than one of those type shells at a time. On the other hand, I reload 12 and 20 and have devised an effective #2 buckshot or slug round that is 2” long and works in both pumps and semis, allow the typical Mossberg pump to hold an extra shell in the mag.
I’d be hesitant to use a “homemade” round for home defense. Even using conventional reloads is District Attorney bait in the event that you actually have to defend yourself. 00 or #4 are both good bets. Federal markets a reduced recoil 00 buck load in their “Ranger” lineup that is a great option for home defense. Bird shot is a bad choice-penetration is very low. It produces grotesque but shallow wounds that don’t readily incapacitate the target.
I use Winchester AA light trap loads for the house gun, 7 1/2-8 shot. At across-the-living-room ranges, its wicked bout excessive penetration is not a problem. (I live in an apartment building)
Ron said he wasn't worried about wall penetration.
Seems to me, either load would be devastating at close range though.
Ultimately, that's all that matters.
One other thought to consider...though how many home invaders have it...body armor. If there's no penetration which one gives more "oomph" on impact.
Several telephone books taped about the body make cheap yet effective body armor. Tape some around a log or to a plank of wood when you go scatter gun testing to see the difference.
I have a few boxes of that but have never tried it...funny they label it as "Power Shok"
I don't care who you are, 12ga's hurt to fire.
Tape the book to a board (as if it were taped around the body or made into a taped up vest) and then shoot it with shot.
Of course a slug will go through it and skeet shooting is stupid.
Right!!!! And if America is not careful, it will happen.
“Well, if I needed an excuse I can think of three right off the top of my head. James Holmes types, gangsta thugs and jihadists come to mind.”
Yes. If there had been just one armed patriot in the audience, the death count would be much less now. I understand there was a “no firearms” sign outside the theater. Great. A snapshot of America if guns were to be banned. The good guys won’t have ‘em, and the evildoers will ignore the law and overpower the good guys.
I’d recommend 7 1/2s or 9s - skeet shot. Spreads fast. tears the living h_ll out of anything up to 20 yards but will not penetrate walls to kill neighbors. Shotguns are the best house defense weapon made.
Don’t know. They barely have more than me. /s
Here’s a good one I found while looking at your posted links:

Yep! For home, this is my choice...
20 gauge and #4 buckshot.
Still shoots 00 buck, easier on the body to shoot and shorter than a full butt stock for handling in close quarters.
No Man's Land 20 gauge #4 buckshot impacting 20% ballistic gelatin HIGH RESOLUTION
Another thing is varying rounds.
5 shots (without one in chamber)...bird shot, bird shot, buckshot, buckshot, slug.
You can vary the loading pattern as you choose and fire as the threat applies.
Just some other things to consider.
Can you name the 'few' that would have been denied?
I dunno, I prefer kill rounds and as many as I can load and have available.
I used to have a Mossy and a Stoeger P-350, both with 18" barrels before I lost them in that tragic Lake Mead boating incident.
Before that, I was thinking about a pistol grip for at least one of them.
Okay, where's the "that's racist kid"
LOL!!
