Wozniak is known for trying non-Apple products, and he's not shy about criticizing the company he helped start. Wozniak's assessment of the Surface tablet? He says it's as if Steve Jobs came back reincarnated at Microsoft to develop a beautiful device.

Bear in mind, however, that Woz thought the Experience Music Project’s architecture was beautiful.

The Surface looks like a tablet you can actually do work on. Windows 8 is a tremendous improvement over both Windows 7 and OS X. I’ve been using it for about 3 weeks and it is magnificent. Fast, stable, and gorgeous.

All of the innnovation in operating systems these days is coming out of Microsoft. Apple just wants to sell more phones.

Some have said Windows 8 seems to have been designed more as a mobile OS than a desktop OS.

Would you recommend it for the typical office professional who does most of their work in an office environment on a desktop machine using a CRM, spreadsheets, word processing, etc?

I’ve been using it a home for personal use, but I dont see why it wouldn’t work well in an office environment. Office 2010 works flawlessly under Windows 8, and I believe that Office 2013 will be Metro applications designed for Windows 8. I recommend you download it to a personal machine and give it a try for a week or so. I predict you’ll have a hard time going back to the old style Windows.

Nah... smelling salts perhaps, LOL.

Woz hasn't been on the Apple-only reservation for decades, why is anyone surprised he would say something nice about Microsoft's prototype tablet? It looks like a neat design, and Woz appreciates good designs.

Let's wait until Surface becomes real -- y'all know, like "sells in stores" -- and I'd bet a fancy dinner Woz buys one to try out. And again, if anyone is surprised, they haven't been paying attention. He might even stand in line, horrors!

Of course all the tech blogs and their pimplords will jump back somersaults over Woz doing so. Freakin' pimps...

I remember Woz’ reputation as a post-Apple next-Woodstock would-be organizer when Bill Graham had to bail him out.

It’s all the fault of that plane crash he had in ‘81.

If Steve Jobs would have made the Surface instead of theiPad, then why didn't he?

Wozniak is not making sense here...

Woz is absolutely wrong - Jobs would never in a thousand years made the Surface.

You see, the Microsoft Surface has a keyboard.

And Jobs promised Hillary he would never make a keyboard again - and push, with everything he had, for the elimination of all keyboards.

Hillary was - and still is - tremendously grateful for this.

True story.
